I would remind anyone interested in this class that the deadline for registration is tomorrow, otherwise the class may well be cancelled by Profeßeir Davis due to lack of interest.

Looks fine to me. I would like to express my thanks to the Assembly for this effort on behalf of Reunision.

Im really happy to see you return, but do you really think reunision is going too slowly? Im actually amazed with the speed of things, especially compared to the normal pace of Talossan affairs. A year ago I still guessed it would take decades before Talossa would ever be one again. I think some thought it was impossible. The trouble is that impending Reunision has largely squeezed the life out of the Republican Witt, because what can they start there with a move on the way? It's like living in a house that's been packed up for a move. So, even moving objectively quickly is going to feel subjectively slow.

I agree with the contents of this bill; I would have one suggestion for an addition: Obviously, Talossa recently had a problem with registration fees. Some sort of fix is necessary. But I'm not quite sure how to word it. And I think it counts as subject matter for a related bill, not a "furthermore" on this one.

Wouldn’t it be better to propose twelve bills each repealing a law? It could be done that way, of course. I figured it would be less spammy to propose one omnibus bill of what seemed to me to be the least controversial dead letters still listed as live, and if anyone objected to any of the specific line items during the time in the Hopper, cut those lines out. One coarse winnowing, which could later be followed up by detailed efforts.

There has been some kind of a "wig" for the Chief Justice of the Cort, too, hasn't it? 38RZ3 establishes a chain of office for the Seneschal, a stamp for the Secretary of State, and a silver-haired wig for the "chief justice", presumably actually meaning the Senior Justice. The OrgLaw requires that "Justices and all other judges shall wear judge's wigs while exercising judicial power."

So, as some people probably remember, the original "crown" of Talossa was a fire department dress hat, traditionally called the "Romanian Train Conductor’s Hat." Ben, of course, still has the original. But has the Kingdom ever acquired a replacement?
Similarly, traditionally the Seneschal was sworn in on a copy of the book The Loom of Language. Does the modern Kingdom of Talossa have a copy?

Grült méirçi, amic Iusti. Amic Istefan, could you please post a revised map with the currently proposed boundaries, just so the citizens of the Republic can see what they're voting to join? This map:

Sounds good to me. As someone else a while back put it, M-M would exchange one densely-populated non-coastal area for another. Looking at the Census data . . . Census Tract 143 had a population of 2,297 in 2010, 2,181 in 2000, 2010 Census Tract 1874 has a total population of 2,341 (including the area across the river), while in 2000, Census Tract 153 had a population of 490. So, the result of swapping 1874 for 143 would be to increase the population of M-M by somewhere around 1,800 people, and presumably a proportionate share of housing units. The resulting M-M will have a population of 7,798. Minus its two southern cantons, Maricopa will still have a population of 8,957 (maybe slightly lower because a small part of 2010 tract 112 is part of 1990 tract 108). Fiôvâ will have approximately 3,000 people, based on the 2000 data for 153 and the 2010 data for 144.

Anyway, I can't find the old proposed University Seal anywhere. Does anyone have a copy? Can anyone describe it?

I would like to apologize to Captain Sir Mick Preston for the unwarranted and hostile tone of previous posts I have made in this thread. I did not treat his concerns and ideas with the proper respect.

Having reviewed the relevant provisions of the OrgLaw, and talked with various persons in both the Kingdom and the Republic, I'm proposing the following plan of action:
1) The Province of Maritiimi-Maxhestic to adopt such provisions to allow the creation of a local government in Census Tract 1874, with advance permission to the Ziu to subsequently make the canton in question into a Province.
2) The Province of Maricopa to adopt such provisions to allow Census Tract 144 to be assigned to a new province and Census Tract 143 to be assigned to Maritiimi-Maxhestic.
3) The people of the Republic to dissolve themselves and become citizens of Talossa, Maritiimi-Maxhestic, and Census Tract 1874.
4) The new citizens of Talossa/Maritiimi-Maxhestic/Census Tract 1874 to officially adopt a local constitution and establish a local elected government for their population of 10 or more persons.
5) The Ziu to pass an act creating a new province of Census Tract 1874, and appending to the new province Census Tract 144 and appending to M-M Census Tract 143.
6) The new province formally created, the Ziu then to adopt such legislation and such amendments as to adopt the existing body of Talossan law to the new case of eight provinces.
Comments, suggestions, objections?

There's been talk on the M-M board (reflecting earlier comments in this thread and on the Republic boards) about assigning 143 to M-M as an offset for M-M losing much of the developed parts of Port Maxhestic. That would look more or less like: Again, provisional map for discussion and further adjustment.

Hasn't it been said somewhere that the citizens of a territory are somewhat attached to a province, until said territory is upgraded to a full-scale province? It originally was that way. One of the reactions to Penguinea in 1998 was an amendment to eliminate such attachment, the "Lawyeristic Timebomb Defusing" amendment.

Reading back messages across the boards with attention to dates, I think the initial problem over a stopover in Maricopa actually was that Kane Gruber misunderstood the then-proposed temporary assignment to Maricopa as meaning that the new province would not include western PMX.
