I would, however, suggest that if we change our province name, we should make it Talossan.Much like Fiôvâ? :-) Yes, exactly like Fiova, in fact. I admire the choice of the name and I think it is the most attractively administrated of provinces thus far in the Kingdom- it has a Talossan name, it has a fantastic flag, and it's active. It's Talossan. It doesn't need some other identity to grab on to in order to make it something. It has a self-defined and self-develop[ed/ing] identity that makes it unique. Hm. Lombardi is a nonsense noun, too similar to the centrenorthern Italian region Lombardia (the region with Milan). Lombardi literally means "inhabitants of the Lombardia". What about Savoia? Lombardi is also the name of the greatest coach in the 'Florencia' Packers' history (American Football- actual name, Green Bay Packers). Since the Packers are Talossa's official (American) Football team, the name makes a bit of sense. If you look at street names in Milwaukee of where our province is located a few stand out: Cambridge Ave right on the river, Oakland Street, Locust Street, and Maryland Avenue. I think Oakland would be cool to go off of, which would be "Carica" in Talossan (Oak grove).

Yeah, generally dictators are awful. I can't think of any worth admiring. Cincinnatus?

Well, the official translation of Lombardi (at least here in Wisco) is "Great Leader, Conqueror of the Bears, Master of the Vikings, the Great Lion Killer, Emperor of Wisconsin" or something like that. I bet there's something in there about beer and cheese too, but I'm not sure. But if we want to honor the Italianate flavor and roots without referring to a ruthless dictator (even if in the familiar, rather than by his surname), Lombardi is a good choice. He was an inspirational character, focused on teamwork, group action, discipline and results. Much as we should be. Some choice Lombardi quotes: “People who work together will win, whether it be against complex football defenses, or the problems of modern society.” "The achievements of an organization are the results of the combined effort of each individual.” “Perfection is not attainable. But if we chase perfection, we can catch excellence.” “The difference between a successful person and others is not a lack of strength, not a lack of knowledge, but rather in a lack of will.” “….I firmly believe that any man’s finest hours – his greatest fulfillment of all that he holds dear – is that moment when he has worked his heart out in good cause and lies exhausted on the field of battle – victorious.” “To be successful, a man must exert an effective influence upon his brothers and upon his associates, and the degree in which he accomplishes this depends on the personality of the man. The incandescence of which he is capable. The flame of fire that burns inside of him. The magnetism which draws the heart of other men to him.” Lots more info and quotes here: www.vincelombardi.com/

I think we should Talossify it though: Lumbarda (lung+barda, and then some linguistic assimilation thrown in for good measure) or something like that.
Another timeless Lombardi quote: "What the hell's goin on out thea?!"
As a Packers Fan and Owner, I am happy with our association with Wisconsin's most beloved Italian.

I could not describe how I feel about the Lombardi option without sounding like the eloquent Benetian, Benedict Stamford.

Yeah, but neither Benito Mussolini nor Benito Madison (nor King Audoin, for that matter) have a cool trophy named after them:

I would be more than willing to throw my support behind a Lumbarda province.
So...when's the campaigning start?

Well hold on a minute, if we are sticking with our Italian influenced past, then I say we put the opinions of our Italian compatriots first and foremost in our decision making process.

Yeah, generally dictators are awful. I can't think of any worth admiring. I don't know, I kinda like the sound of Ulyanov-Schicklgruber-Dzhugashvili-Nyabire Province.

I certainly support our Italian compatriots. What, though, would you suggest, and would you be okay with Talossifying it?
I think one last, final name change to break fully with our unfortunate authoritarian past is absolutely necessary. I am willing to support something that is still Italian influenced, but I also beg people to see the necessity of making our province Talossan, not Italian.
That goes for the name of our province and its institutions, a new flag, etc.
Why do we need to rely on a culture forced upon us by a Crazy Old Man years ago? Why not create our own?
We aren't Italians, we are Talossans!
If anything, we can throw 'Italian Fest' in our province someday, to hearken back to our green, white and red past.
But it's time to ditch the white and just be green and red.

Understood, you're right. Perhaps rebuilding our province starting from the foundations will be better. I mean, new name, statute, flag, whatever.

Why do we need to rely on a culture forced upon us by a Crazy Old Man years ago? It wasn't. I'm not sure where you got it from and I'm not saying it's not a nifty idea, but there was nothing Italian about Mussolini or Turkish about Atatürk before 2004. They were just names that Ben happened to like. ETA: There was, however, a touch of Blut und Eisen to M-M, thanks to Herr von Métariâ's bombastic taste.
