Have you watched a game of T20 cricket? It's a newer form which only takes as long as a baseball or football game. I'm not that interested because it seems quite unsubtle and crude by the standards of the five-day or even one-day versions, but a baseball fan might be interested.

I haven't. But that description does remind me of a variant of rugby that even my wife thought was cool (she's not much into sports at all): VIIs. Oh buddy, it's like soccer and gridball had a rapid-fire baby. Easy to follow and it looks like loads of fun to play.

Ah yes, "sevens". The annual Sevens tourney in Wellington is one of the huge party events of the year, and most of my football team are going down to dress up, get stupidly drunk, and possibly watch some rugby sevens. You might also be interested in Carlin Isles - a USA sprinter who realised he wasn't going to make the Olympic team in his chosen sport, so he quickly learned to handle a rugby ball so he can go to the Olympics as part of the sevens team.

Actually, Isles was on the broadcast I first watched! I also saw some other college football stars who found a home in rugby as well.

The score is still Q to 12!
Anyway, the best thing I like about Carlin Isles is that he's picked up good skills at dodging defenders in the in-goal area so he can touch down under the posts (and thus get an easier conversion).

That's my favorite conversion. The defender thinks he's got the guy, but No.
