I'm surprised that Dav isn't championing archery, actually. Archery can be difficult to learn and requires specialized, and often times expensive, equipment. I think a provincial sport should be something that we can all enjoy.

I don't know if it has become our "official" prrovincial sport, but I've tried to convince my fellow Benitians (Teslans? Linceans?) to take up "bolextrema" (Bocce played on unforgiving terrain) as our provincial sport. Bolextrema can be played anywhere, with a cheaply purchased bocce set. Pardon my intrusion, forgive me for interrupting here where I do not belong, just throwing out ideas here. How about lawn darts for you guys?

Or that game where one tries to throw a horseshoe over a pole.

Haha! We just call it 'horseshoes'. And you don't throw them OVER the pole, you try to throw them so the are AROUND the pole.

Haha! We just call it 'horseshoes'. We call them "horsetools" ferro di cavallo :-) (in italian the same word for iron "ferro" could be also used for tool (usually in current italian "attrezzo"), so it's very appropriate for horseshoes that are iron tools :-)

Not wanting to be the one to pee on the fire here, but horseshoes... That's kinda dull, isn't it?

Oh, I never endorsed horseshoes. I was just making a point.

In the Anglosphere, there's a similar game to horseshoes only using plastic rings, and it's called quoits. Yes, it's a very dull game, but I like the word quoit. Or here's an even better one.

Minigolf is a similar game, and similarly dull.

There's a game up in these parts called "Cornhole". First time I ever heard of it was seeing an ad in the paper for a local "Cornhole Tournament". Of course, before I found out what it was, I immediately thought of something akin to Howard Sterns "Anal Ring Toss". What it is, tho, is just a inclined board with a hole in it, in which you are to attept to throw small bags of corn. Sort of horseshoes-like, tho it can be more safely played than horseshoes when drunk.

I don't think of any of those things as sports. Games of skill, yes. But not a sport. So far the only sport I've heard mentioned is badminton and even that's a bit sketchy.
What about lacrosse?
