I would suggest the provincial sport should be "All forms of football, regardless of code or style."

But you're a Welshman! Don't tell me you've got no rugby in your soul! (I of course had some in mine, but I got that removed in Thailand.) Football and Rugby, IMO, are not related in any way. Not even the weirdo American version which seems not to focus on the foot part of football, to much confusion. Rugby's all right, but like Football I do want a break from what's popular in the country of my macronational residence.

Rugby is most certainly a form of football. And so is "the weirdo American version". It's all football. Anyone who denies the lineage of American football because a weird fixation on the word "football" is out of his or her mind.
There are no crickets in Cricket, and people play Rugby when they're nowhere near Rugby. Get over it.

Of course (association) Football and Rugby are related. They were the same game up until 1823 or whenever W. W. Ellis picked up the ball and ran with it. The ancestor of both sports probably looked more like Australian Rules football. And Canadian football , which to outsiders is barely distinguishable from American football, was actually called "rugby" until the 1960s (they referred to Rugby as "English rugby"). *ahem* Anyway, doesn't look like we're getting a majority for badminton. Grubi, if this motion fails, you want I should put your "all forms of football" as a motion?

I would like that. Personally, baseball is my favorite sport, but I do love (American) football and can appreciate it in all of its forms.
