Where did you get "Banning"? I said nothing about "banning". I said let's discuss it elsewhere. Okay, perhaps, I've misread. I'm making the assumption that by creating a politics only board that we are going to end up saying 'no politics on the main board'. If my assumption is wrong, then we can stop arguing this. I'm not sure how you think I'm putting words in your mouth. Honestly didn't think I was. Well, no. I'll make whatever political statement I want (without being rude) in public and if the law ever says that I can't then I'll take it before the court as breaching Organic Covenants.

Wittenberg is not a national property. It is privately owned and moderated. Hence why I did not ask the Ziu to issue a Sense of the Cosa or attempt to pass legislation. I posted a petition to the owner and moderator of the forums, who technically can inhibit your speech on their personal property.
Also, some rules state...
1. Wittenberg. A general-purpose discussion area. Things that don’t fit onto any other Board probably should go here, or possibly nowhere.
4. The Hopper. This is an informal place for discussing proposed legislation. Most of the posts here are from members of the Ziu, or from citizens who have opinions to express to their legislators about upcoming legislation. In particular, the Hopper is used to work out the wording of new laws, in preparation for their being voted on by the Ziu. Try not to clutter up the discussion with vague discussions of general principles, or with personal give-and-take; this is your legislature doing the nuts-and-bolts work of legislating.
The rules kind of imply that political talk should be in The Hopper. Definetly not on Wittenberg because Wittenberg is a place for conversation that doesn't fit elsewhere. Political discussion seems to already have a place. They can easily put a sub-board there for the 'vague discussions of general principles, or with personal give-and-take' discussions.

I'm not saying "No Politics EVAR on the main boards!" . What I am suggesting is that we create a space where it is encouraged that politics be discussed there - just like our Language , College of Arms, etc boards .

Eðo - I honestly didn't take his comment that way - maybe a bit frustrated, but not rude. I don't think he meant it that way. I didn't say MT was rude. I said he had a bad attitude (in the form of being sarcastic). I get the frustration, but, honestly, we have rules and I'm suggesting that the rules need enforced and he replies with "what we gonna do, spank them?" ... bear in mind, he is the one complaining about ... I'm sorry, I sense a tiny little bit of hypocrisy is all.

I made an assumption that by having a politics only board I thought we were going to say no politics on the main board. If I'm wrong, I'm wrong. We might be arguing in circles now for no reason.

I guess what the nation needs to decide... are we going to be hardcore politics only, or do we want politics and other things that make a nation a nation? I vote for the latter. Politics and other things to make the nation. But, I don't want the citizenry to be told that they can't make a political statement here and can't make a religious statement there. (However, I'm twigging that we aren't talking about banning political talk on the main board, but, rather saying we will have a politics only zone + the freedom to make the odd political statement elsewhere.) (edit, seriously hate proboards formatting)

It should remain on our main board in full-force and out-in-front for all the world to see that we are more than just a bunch of namby-pamby tribbles Yes, some of us are Romulans, you know.

Can we all agree that if a topic gets too 'hot' on a general board, we can relocate it to the 'politics' board?

Can we all agree that if a topic gets too 'hot' on a general board, we can relocate it to the 'politics' board? *ahem* like asking the police to take action? ;D Yes. This is wise. Some more active moderation around here would not go amiss. Also. Might I suggest that we could adopt a thread naming convention. Fiova does this thing with square brackets to indicate the nature of the thread. Why can't we do the same... Thread title: [POLITICS] Tear down the wall Thread title: [CULTURE] Preposterous contest Thread title: [ROYAL] Speech from the throne You get my point....

Well Edo, I please ask that you author a different petition with the gist of what has been decided. I'm more than happy to update it to be on the front.

. But, I don't want the citizenry to be told that they can't make a political statement here and can't make a religious statement there. That really wasn't my intention. What my intention was, if someone wanted to say "I think all Senators should be allowed to serve only one term!" or "RUMP suxors, CLP rulez!" , that they have a forum for that - NOT on Wittenberg. They can say "So, where do I go to see what party supports what " on Wittenberg, or "Can someone explain why the Senate voted down that Act the other day" ? It's more the rhetoric and the sniping that I suggested be in another board.
