24 people in the Cosa! That's a new record! (Now, if only they'll all vote ...)

I beg the Secretary of State's pardon, but although Sir Fritz and S:reu McGarry were appointed by His Majesty the unaffiliated Head of State guy, they cannot be called independent. If they ever choose to give up their seats by non-voting for two consecutive Clarks, the seats will revert to the RUMP (not the middle ZZ Top guy) for reassignment. They are RUMP seats, and we as a party are truly very proud to have such exalted and honoured Talossans occupy them.

Where is the DPD? Don't they have 16 seats in the cosa?

Also, Hool, by failing to assign seats the seats revert to royal appointment - so whilst the seats, if forfeited by their holders, return to RUMP hands (what an odd phrase), are the members not theoretically "Royal Independents" or something?

I suppose it is a question of two issues, MC Edwards... I mean, the seats are RUMP seats, but the holders are either RUMP (since they hold RUMP seats) or LRT (in Sir Fritz's case, by common association) or IND (because hey who the hell knows). There are no rules for this sort of thing, and little precedent.

I think some sort of Statute, or OrgLaw Amendment, needs to cover this.

Really? I don't see how it is much of a problem... we're all kidding around about terminology, but ultimately it has no actual effect. The seats have to be referred to as RUMP seats by all logical implication, and the representatives can decide for themselves whether they want to call themselves IND or RUMP or LRT.

Trust me -
Just because the chair may say RUMP, doesn't mean the person sitting there is going to vote along RUMP party lines.

I first point to Sir Cresti's point elsewhere, and also to the general legal implication of the fact the seats have reverted to the Crown. Of course, if forfeited there, they might well be RUMP by rights, but McGarry and Buchholtz are MCs by virtue of the Crown, not the RUMP.

"As leader of the RUMP, I hereby serve notice that for reasons of its own, the party has chosen to leave vacant two of the 132 Cosa seats that the elections to the 38th Cosa have entitled it.
The RUMP having thus refused to provide occupancy for these two seats, the prerogative to do so now falls to His Majesty the King."
The seats have not reverted to the Crown. The RUMP has decided not to name people to fill them. The RUMP has allowed the King to name the occupants of the Seats.

"The RUMP having thus refused to provide occupancy for these two seats"
Refused sounds a little like forfeiting.
"the prerogative to do so now falls to His Majesty the King"
Falls sounds a little like defaulting, or reverting.
And by "sounds a little", I suspect Mr Roget would match said words.
