So, we've had a couple more interest payments, both a bit over $1.50. Ally's lowered the APY on the savings account to 1.90%, which is still pretty good for a savings account.

Our country has a Finnish name, one of our provinces has a Finnish name and the national motto is in Finnish... Yet, Talossa was settled by ancient Berbers, our language is mostly French and the national seal has a Chinese character... And our national cuisine is...Taco Bell? Damn, this place is messed up. I will note that there are Taco Bells in Finland, China, and Metropolitan Talossa. It's almost a unifying thread.

Just in case anyone's interested, we logged more interest on the savings account on the July 10th accrual (based on the partial monthly balance dating from July 1st) than we had all year prior on the balance in the interest checking. It's not anything that'll support mad spending ($0.78), but it's an improvement.

Why was the vote for Iason given to the FreeDems? I know I'm super-late bringing this up, but that vote was quite specifically NOT cast for any party. Per the thread 53rd Cosa Assembly Party RegistrationNote that, by precedent, votes for party leaders are counted as votes for that party. So, Iason Bitxichë Taiwos was, at the time of the vote, the party leader of the FreeDems in Benito, and it was publicly established at the time of the vote that a vote for the party leader was a vote for the party.

Does Ally charge a monthly fee on checking and savings accounts? No, they do not. "No fees for having an account or basic use" is my minimum standard on financial management. If they start charging, I'll move the accounts over to someone who doesn't (my local credit union, for example).

In accordance with the just-signed budget, I have opened a savings account at Ally Bank (currently at 2.08% interest, 2.10% APY) and begun the transfer of our checking balance (also at Ally, currently paying 0.10% interest) to that account. I simultaneously began the transfer of most of the current PayPal account balance to the checking account, after which most will then be moved into the savings balance.
Functionally, other than the interest rates, the differences are that the checking account is attached to the PayPal account, and we can pull money out of the savings account at most six times per month before paying fees, while we can withdraw from checking at-will.
As a practical matter, given our typical use rates, this will get Talossa rather more substantive interest on our balance, at a very slight increase in intra-account shuffling on my part, for as long as Ally keeps paying a reasonable rate on the savings account.

Since we've got a majority and it's been a week (and some), I declare voting closed. Erschéveþ da Schir is Maestro of Benito.

This seems odd to me. Is this permitted by statute or convention? I must concede, we don't have this practice in NY, so it's a bit foreign to me. As a historical matter, the common law assumes private prosecutions; they were the standard method of prosecution in 18th Century England. They remain legal in (at least) Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, South Africa, the United Kingdom, and the US states of Texas and Virginia.

Eh, unfortunately the Cort doesn't issue advisory opinions (or isn't supposed to, anyway). I'm about 85% sure that the Cort has, in fact, issued advisory opinions, and I'm absolutely sure there's no rule against it. The biggest issue would be that the Cort tends to be so non-functional that timely advisory opinions are unlikely.

2) I'm not sure about the default appointment method, because (hypothetically) you'd just need one MC from the biggest Government party to vote against Confidence and the Prime Minister would also be the Leader of the Opposition. As I read the text, it's the party that casts the most NON votes on confidence, rather than the party with the most seats where somebody voted NON.
