Well, I do live in the ghetto. So I would know. Being "da man" is old a$$ slang that noone in the ghetto says anymore. Being "the man" means you're the guy holding them back in life, hence why people who live on the ghetto tend to blame "the man". Newark, NJ. Yeah, ghetto This was illuminating. Considering neither you nor I were alive for the Civil Rights movement I think your lovely explanation on what I meant can safely be ignored. Welcome to the late 90's and the 21st century. Here in modern land, when someone is called the THE MAN!! it is safe to assume that the contemporary definition, or the "new a**" slang can be inferred. But you knew that didn't you? You were just playing dumb and read a completely different meaning into an otherwise easily understood statement. Oops!
