Change the world, start with youself . What is the reason the ZRT is seperate from the CSPP? or the APT? And do you consider yourselves inheritors of the legacy left by Ken Oplinger's ZPT?

Dunno about Ken Oplinger's ZRT. Oplinger was a fire-breathing anti-Penguinean. Mark Pendl was cool. The reason the ZRT is separate from the existing Kingdom parties is the "R" in the name. It stands for repúblicanismeu. But if you're serious about wanting to discuss a merger, can you read our platform and tell me how much of it you could sign up to? Particularly point 7? And we're separate from the APT because Dieter and myself in the same party would be something like "matter meets antimatter". More seriously, because I agree with Ián Metáirâ, 1988: "PECULIARISM IS TO TALOSSA WHAT TERMITES ARE TO WOOD!"

Well, apart from the secret ballot, I agree with most of part 7,( especially 7c) but it doesnt say you want to get rid of the king so it technically isnt entirely republican. But I dont think a merger is a right idea at this point. I still cant find many diffences between the zrt and the apt, but maybe that is because I still dont really get peculiarism, so I dont know the danger.

We are evolutionary rather than revolutionary republicans. We have no wish to set up a guillotine.
Deet, come over here and explain at great length how Peculiarism is different from Defencism.

No-one is wanting to set up a guillotine or something.
As for Defencism, I'm already doing my best to explain Peculiarism, so I leave it to you to explain your own peculiar -ism. Anyway, some differences come to my mind: I think you guys tried to implement yet another -ism thang: Dirigism. Kind of, that's some kind of a guided micronationalism with an entertainer at the helm, who is telling the masses which gymnastical exercise is the exercise of the moment. The intention behind this is to avoid dull moments, from which small nationettes are occasionally suffering a lot. Didn't work, though. Peculiarists prefer laisser faire in any way, whereas by their mere existance they are evoking a lot of debate; that is, Peculiarism in itself is means to avoid dull moments.
I seem to recall that yet another Defencist hobbyhorse was "recreational legislation": Defencist governments were encouraged to create unneccessary laws rather than doing anything at all, while at the next stage removing said laws would generate even more activity. The Peculiarist solution for this (un)employment issue: laisser faire. It's leisure that is providing space for creativity. Creating an additional threadmill (additional to the real life's chores) is kind of antimatter to the matter of fun.
I wish I'd remember more Defencist goodies, if only for the fun of having yet another opportunity for the recommendation of laisser faire, but pardon me while I'm about to contemplate a bit of leisure now. Saturday afternoon is a good time for a good healthy quality nap, at least for grizzled elder statesmen like me.

Saturday afternoon is a good time for a good healthy quality nap, at least for grizzled elder statesmen like me. Ahem... grizzly. ;D Nope, polar bear. Yet another Penguinean-Republican Talossan tradition, ladies and gentlemen: Some of us had chosen "totemic animals" or, more precisely, furry avatars. (This stems from the days when Penguineans took some pride of being called "Penguins". So when I joined this nationette with its "spiritual homeland" and quite some citizens located "down under", I thought that as a man from the northern hemisphere I could hardy claim to be a Penguin, a species that is antarctic in most cases.) As for evolutionary vs revolutionary republicanism, I'm just about to join the Kingdom of Talossa, so it's not my understanding of politeness to come storming in with the yell "behead the King" on my lips. I'll have to learn how the Kingdom is working before galopping around on my shiny warhorse anyway. From the perspective of fun, I'd say it's more fun to have one more election every once in a while, the election of a head of the nationette. I've read somewhere that King John I kind of had to be persuaded to accept the burden of The Crown and the thorny seat that is called The Throne, so he'd possibly enjoy another position in this nationette, too. Lot of food for thought, debate and what not.

Wooley For Prime Minister!!! (I was joking at first, but I'd totally vote for it.)
ahem,
It seems almost impossible to define certain political ideologies and cultural philosophies in Talossa. Numerous essays have been written by various Talossan minds over the years in attempts to define terms like peculiarism, derivitism, conservativism and how they all fit into the Talossan left and right. It was jibed that the Talossan political compass is more of a circle than a line and perhaps there is some truth to that.
In recent attempts to define the two main branches of political ideology of the Kingdom, Conservatism and Progressivism, it was somewhat alluded to that Conservatives oppose major changes to the Organic Law and the Kingdom's overall political and cultural fields while Progressives are open to reforms and changes. But the Progressive movement is supposed to be more than that even.
Talossan Progressives decided a while back that it was pointless trying to constantly define what Talossa is and just let it be what it is, a nation. Keep your own definition of nation to oneself is our message, for it does not matter one ounce what we are, it only matters that we are. We are a nation not categorized by any one religion or creed, nor any race, nor any language or accent, nor anything! We could be described as a rag-tag group. I prefer to think of it as a vibrant and diverse community.
Progressives, as well as seeking reforms in areas that may need it, firmly believe in the community of the Talossan nation. I can personally vouch for this. When one makes a confession/apology and tells a bunch of people that one has never met about an addiction over the internet and to return a few days later to find two pages of responses filled with messages of support (again from people never met) ... yeah, you feel it. Talossanity goes beyond politics and it extends past the forum boards. It is bigger than poetry and opera, it is more than journalism and wargames. We really do look after our own and then welcome anybody, and then re-welcome anybody, that wants to be a part of it.
Talossa is more special than anyone cares to realize. Kind of like how we underappreciate how special space is. If burnt out suns become diamonds in space...
Anyway, it is this special kind of sense of community and nationhood that Talossan Progressives follow and our primary cause is to spread that message into the world and show the billions that even though we are small, even though we might have quite an amazing land claim and even though we sometimes can't agree on what beer to buy that we are still the most caring, loving and humanitarian nation ever to exist.
Talossans have hurt each other over and over again in it's 30 years, no matter which Talossa one refers to. Just like global politics we have had wars and hatred. I think it is time to stop with that. 2012 will see the Republic and the Kingdom merge as one again. We are seeing the return of citizens from as far back as the 90's and I am starting to realize that we are all heading towards a new and very active era of Talossan lifestyle. This year will see Talossa shine, no doubt about it people. We, Progressives, are excited about the possibilites before us all and will be working towards spreading Talossanity during this time.
We are still seeking to establish a small pension fund for retired Talossans and we want to shake up TAID and reinvestigate the HAF. We want to increase the awareness of Talossan goodwill within the nation and outwith too.
We want to help build a strong alternative lifestyle to Talossa, more in tune to cultural endeavours than with political escapades. We want to attract artists, poets, writers and more and be able to provide multiple ways for them to flourish in the Talossan arts and culture. We need more than a language and parliament, and need to do more than we do and have done.
As promised, we shall publish a manifesto in due time, but for now, I hope this puts Talossans in the picture of who the CSPP are.

To some extend this rant is reading quite peculiarist, so in the long run yet another merger of "oppositional forces" might be possible. Let's see how things are developing once the Reunison has become a historical fact.

The way I understand it, some of the differences between the various political parties we currently have can be listed as follows (in alphabetical order): - APT - strepsirrhine
- CRO - corvid
- CSPP - canine
- MRPT - hippocampus
- RUMP - cryptodire
- ZRT - bovid
Hope this helps! Hool

No, it doesn't. Or it does. Or, then again, it doesn't. You could as well say that we're all Talossans, and of course that is true. Would you, therefore, endorse the creation of a one-party-state?

To some extend this rant is reading quite peculiarist, so in the long run yet another merger of "oppositional forces" might be possible. Let's see how things are developing once the Reunison has become a historical fact. It has been said that progressivism is a sort of neo-peculiarism. However, I think derivitists can be progressive also.

As I keep saying, the ZRT sees ourselves as progressive derivatists. And we still hold to the idea of "dirigism", that the Government should take responsibility for encouraging cultural development.
