Because... that should be one of the words kept. Renaischença or Renaišença looks quite horrid, Renaixença is clearly cooler looking.

I ask you not to look at a word based on how it looks. If we replace the x with a š it eliminates an inconsistency.

So? What's wrong with some irregulars? As I said to you in private. Fish can be spelled Ghoti in English. And yet, we do nothing to reform this.

Yes, but as I said in the same conversation, "ghoti" would do nothing for phonetics, which is what the š brings.
I have nothing against a few irregulars, but I would like to limit them from words that simply "look cooler" spelled without the š to words that actually have an irrevocable part in Talossan history.

I didn't want to pull this gun out... but I will. There is a big problem with š. It is not on most American conventional keyboards. Sure, you can copy and paste it, or have a little program that types with slavic letters (as I have). But it's just hard!

Sure, you can copy and paste it, or have a little program that types with slavic letters (as I have). But it's just hard! No worries I have already thought about that too. There are many ways to type special characters on an American keyboard. For š, you type ALT+0154. It is hard to type any special character on an American keyboard because face it, we do not have diacriticals. Sure, it does complicate things, but this goes for all Talossan diacriticals, not just š.

Damn! Anyway... I still think we should keep that x as a "sh." It is common practice in a few Romance languages to have an x take on multiple sounds.

Also:
When I type ALT+01545
I get: º¡∞¢

You have a Mac. If you have microsoft word, hold down ALT then press 0154 consecutively without letting go of ALT, you should get the š.

I do indeed. The best operating system around, besides Linux.

Anyways, I think more people from the CUG should comment on this proposal before any more changes to the proposal are made.
Remember, it is only a proposal, nothing more.

Listen, I'm not in the CUG, but there was just an Arestada that dramatically changed the language. It was the first significant change in some time, I believe. On behalf of all those trying to learn it: stop changing it, please! It's hard enough!

It's not tring to change anything...it's trying to simplify it.
One letter...one sound. But for only one sound. The sound.
Anyways, can a mod delete this thread?

It's not tring to change anything...it's trying to simplify it. And how, my friend, do you propose to simplify without changing anything?

haha, no I deleated my post with my proposal.
I saved it to my computer if you'd like to see it.
So, in essence, I'm withdrawing my proposal. I thought deleating the first post in the thread would delete it. If you'd like the see the proposal, I'll PM it to you.
