I am sorry if I'm wrong here, but if you consider yourself an english speaking person, you might be referring to American-English, which is not the same a British-English - there are many words that do not have the same meaning in British English (the Original English), and the American English.
For example. The Finnish nation, are the Finnish people (whom to be politically correct are Finnish citizens, and not only by the right of birth to the nationality), and the Finnish State, is the actual body of government for the Republic of Finland, which is bound by it's national borders. We have laws defining our borders, as well as an active army and navy. Also, as far as I am concerned, as a native English speaker, when used in those contexts the words "State" and "Nation" mean precisely the same thing. -Gavárþic'h

The Vatican/Holy See is a COUNTRY, listed everywhere as a sovereign territory, but never have I heard the Vatican to be called a nation... In fact, the Vatican IS NOT A NATION!!!But this discussing on what a micronation and a nation is, and the differences in the meanings of the two words are what is causing the heated discussion, and open confusion to many. Perhaps this following link would share some light on the subject. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/NationEspecially to the passage explaining the following:" A nation is not a state, and while traditionally monocultural, it may also be multicultural in its self-definition. The term nation is often used as a synonym for ethnic group (sometimes "ethnos"), but although ethnicity is now one of the most important aspects of cultural or social identity, people with the same ethnic origin may live in different nation-states and be treated as members of separate nations for that reason. National identity is often disputed, down to the level of the individual." the Vatican only has 800 some citizens, does that make it not a country TW?

The war which came and went between the micronations of the Principality of New Texas and the Grand Duchy of Elsanor seems to have at least opened a lively discussion on the issue of us being either a micronation or a nation. Some say we are a micronation, some say we are a nation. What is then a micronation by it's official definition? And what is a nation, by it's official definition? And quite frankly - the word 'micro', I think refers to something small, which would mean ' a small nation'. Is the Talossan nation then so large, that it CANNOT be in the same league as micronations are? Also, if you take the word nation from for example movies, we can see 'nations' that call themselves the Aryan Nation, or the Nation of Islam, in prison movies etc.. - are we to be categorized in that manner(?) ...or might we mean that we are a nation such as the native aboriginal tribes of Australia (?), or the Indian Nations of the US(?) In every search engine, or wikipedia, encyclopedia etc, The Kingdom of Talossa, and the Republic of Talossa is without exceptions called a ' micronation' - are they then all wrong? As your Royal Ambassador, if I ever face this question again from someone, I will have a hard time explaining the whole story so that someone would understand it completely, a s obviously we do not even do so ourselves. Kind regards, Tony Weckström Royal Ambassador to the Republic of Finland And this "war" affects us how? One more time, Talossan Law prohibits dealing with micronations. We are a nation, we don't really care what micronations do.

Hi. Just asking. What is the intention of this micronational news blog? Is it just to report on the war, that has ended, or will you have other micronational news in the future with other micronations news??? Kind regards, Royal Ambassador

So as the Royal Talossan Ambassador to Finland, I represent the Kingdom (!), but are there then different ambassadors for the Republic of Talosssa? (!)Would the Secretary of State or Foreign Affairs please advice me on the absolute CORRECT wording I am to offer any micronation representative that contacts me - it would be greatly appreciated. It's getting a bit confusing!I just read that the war between the two micronations, the Catholic Principality of New Texas and the Grand Duchy of Elsanor has ended. They signed a treaty of peace... quite nice, except for one small error in spelling... Guess they where in a hurry to declare peace..See it! www.principality-of-new-texas.us/ under the NEWS section!!! ;DKind regards, your humble governmental servant, Royal Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the Republic of FinlandTalossa is a real micronation, calling itself a nation. Almost all other "micronations" are silly web groups and not micronations, but they call themselves micronations. Heh. Sorry - I disagree. The Kingdom of Talossa is a nation. You must be referring to that "Republic" thingie. Sir Trotxâ

No problem. It's good to hear opinions of other Talossans, obviously more experienced with the law... Wouldn't want to make any mistakes at this level, as a representative of Talossa... So thanks to all! Okay that is fine I didn't mean to give you a hard time.

As the law now stands, I have no intentions of replying anything else back other than " we cannot enter into any agreements, talks, negotiations, official, unofficial, in any way or form " ...
hopefully that is acceptable to all...
Kind regards,
Tony Weckström Royal Ambassador to the Republic of FinlandThe law states: "The Ziu stipulates by statute that the Government of Talossa will have no relations with any micronation in any form;", in the Semi-Permeable Wall Act. So while you might, as a private individual, reply and speak to them ("The Ziu stipulates that no part of this Act is intended to limit the free speech and assembly rights of or discriminate against any and all Talossan citizens to privately associate with any individual of their own choosing, including citizens of other micronations."), officially your only lawful act can be to inform them that Talossa does not wish them ill, but does not wish to enter into any relations with them. Or at least, that is my interpretation of the law. If you are uncertain what to do, I imagine you can always kick it up to your superior, Ministreu Holdorf, and ask her.

Sir, I have followed our laws, and not had any official contact with these micronations. I was merely contacted by email, and the only thing I replied was " I will check on this " - that is hardly official communication - I'd rather consider that a politeness to respond.. Tony, while your zeal is certainly nice, you have to bear in mind that you are a representative of the government and beholden to the law, and we have statutes that prohibit relations with any "micronations". While schools of thought have differed over the years, and probably still do, the current position of our country and our administration is that we are a nation, not a micronation. The squabblings of these groups are not our concern.

My personal opinion with my diplomatic hat on, is; as long as this administration tells me we are a nation, we are a nation. IF the time comes, that we wish to consider ourselves a micronation, then I will support that too. My loyalty shall lie with my King and my Government. Well, Dear Sir, like it or not, when you look up micronations under search engines, Talossa will be named as a micronation. Even WIKIPEDIA names Talossa, not as one, but as two micronations! See: en.wikipedia.org/wiki/TalossaThat's how other people think of us. Frankly, I don't really care how other people classify the Kingdom. We are a nation, not a micronation. Either side can debate this until both are blue in the face. But the bottom line is: We're right, and they're wrong; the Kingdom of Talossa is a nation. T Dub, what is YOUR personal opinion? Is the Kingdom of Talossa a nation or not?

As Ambassador, I have been approached by a micronation, and now it is my is my sad duty to inform the Government and People of Talossa, that on the topics of micronations, there seems to be a micronational crisis brewing!
The Principality of New Texas, The Grand Duchy of Elsanor, The Dominion of British West Florida and the Republic of Bitovia are now all at WAR! It seems to be the beginning of a First World War between Micro nations! Read:
"http://www.reliableinformationsystems.com/bwf/forum/read.php?5,3060" Can't seem to get that 5,3060 into the link... why?
Therefor, I am still for opening some limited discussions with micro nations, while not forming any formal allegiances or treaties, but to perhaps shed more light on our nation to others - whom then might want to join us.
Kind regards,
Tony Weckström Royal Ambassador

I kindly thank the Government and the King for this post. I feel it is more useful, and less inflammatory towards me, as I will posting less to nothing to this board in the future.
You may expect a Royal Embassy website, within a few weeks.
Let it therefor be know that I have resigned willingly from the Royal Bank & Post, as the position was too frustrating, as nothing much could be done, without serious hassle and rude comments from other citizens of Talossa, whom know themselves well...
Thank you, and God save the King!S:reu Tony Weckström has done an excellent job heading the Royal Bank & Post, and getting the nation to begin discussing this important next step in building our economy. We all owe him a debt of gratitude for his work there. At his request, he wishes to devote his time going forward to the post of Royal Ambassador to Finland, and as such, the Presidency of the Royal Bank & Post is again vacant (so I'm looking for, asking for, begging for, volunteers). Once again, the thanks of the nation go to Ambassador Weckström -- he has shown us what an active President of the Royal Bank & Post can and should do. I join the rest of the nation in wishing him well, confident in his tremendous success building His Majesty's foreign mission to Finland. Hooligan Seneschál

It might be prudent to let me know if there is some discussion going on on other companies offering minting... Otherwise it seriously undemines the efforts I've made so far with the UK company, that has agreed to exempt the VAT costs. If the coins are to be made through some other company - I do not feel comfortable at this time to simply pull my interest away from the company I' ve now spoken to on numerous occasions in regards to our matter of minting customs coins for our beloved Kingdom.
If this will be the case, I suggest someone else takes up the assignment of having the coins minted - however that may then turn out - at least with the company I've spoken, the coins would at least be top quality and we'd thus begin a profitable and long-lived partnership with the aforementioned company.
If you wuold like to go with plastic or other 'tokens', then from my point of view, I would not like to have anything to do with such "coins".Complete cost would be, excl. VAT (which I get without VAT fees) is: 675,78 EUROS incl. shipping to me / + about 50 EUROS for me to forward the coins to whomever shall have them (=ALL COINS). Unfortunately, the Kingdom does not have nearly that much money available to spend right now. It'll probably be several months at least before we can raise that much money. So we have lots of time to figure out what kind of designs we want.

Greetings!
If I am to be the one to make the order for the coins, through my contacts with the UK company Croft Company UK www.croftcompany.co.uk
I will need the design of the coins in .ai ,.eps or .cdr format.
The coins would be 18,50x1,75mm RED COPPER, in a quantity of 1000.
It would be important also the set the value of this coins to approximately 5 or 10 currency value / perhaps in direct comparative value to the GBP, EURO or USD to have a fixed value.
Complete cost would be, excl. VAT (which I get without VAT fees) is: 675,78 EUROS incl. shipping to me / + about 50 EUROS for me to forward the coins to whomever shall have them (=ALL COINS). I'd of course also willing to keep them, and sell them directly to those that order them. Perhaps through Ebay, which would also give the Kingdom more publicity - and thus more citizens! Or through a separate Royal Bank & Post website, which I'll open soon, under it's own domain name, and not through some free domain space provider with annoying pop-ups or advertisements.
The official that shall decide these issues, please contact me directly in the Ziu to discuss this further.
Kind regards,
Tony Weckström, President of the Royal Bank & PostLets not let this die, But I think it needs to be clearly worded, because I still don't really understand... One reason the law is a little more vague than we might ideally like is that we don't yet have a consulate lined up. So we can't really set our exchange rate in stone not knowing what prices our future consulate charges, for example. We need to leave some room for negotiating details like that. It is good to hear the thoughts of people who weren't involved in the drafting process, though. It's easy for those familiar with the discussions leading up to the final law to "know what we meant by that." Do you have any suggestions for improved language?
