Yet another "killer argument": read the laws, don't talk about what you're wishing for before you read the laws. And then, when you've read the laws, let's talk about little amendments like the removal or the addition of a comma, or how a comma could be replaced by a semicolon. Shouldn't one know what the Law is, before one attempts to change it? Did you intentionally neglect to notice my comment that the bill in question had some flaws that kept it from being passed? In large nations, most people (except lawyers) don't know the exact wording and numbering of laws, but still they are entitled to have an opionion on laws as they know them from hearsay, and if they consider these laws wrong, they can say so and get together with other people who don't like the gist of laws that are supposedly wrong, wrong, wrong. Then, sometimes, public opinion will wash these laws away, no matter what the government is trying to tell the people. Power to the people.

I'm not commenting on the opinions, I'm talking about knowing the actually wording of law that is to be changed. Instead of blindly tilting at the windmill, figure out how it works, and what you need to do to make it work differently. Or, just avoid my comments directly.

Actually, Captain Sir Snarky, before jabbing the READ-THE-LAW-stick and then pointing folks to KoT's Digest of Laws ... perhaps you ought to take a peek there yourself.
It was last updated June 4, 2012. That means four Acts of the 43rd Cosa (including three PDs) as well as all of the 44th Cosa (with its two PDs), and the first two Clarks of the 45th Cosa (with its two PDs) are missing. But you probably knew that.

I assent. El Regeu en volt. If I'm sitting at my desk mid-morning feeling hungry, I desire lunch. Then when lunchtime rolls around, and I get up to go across the street to the hot dog stand, I'm seeking lunch. Desire often — not always — leads to seeking, but they aren't at all the same thing. — John R Your Majesty, If I send you a PM saying that I desire your counsel, then explain my conundrum, should I not expect that you will grant me your sage advice? mag

If I send you a PM saying that I desire your counsel, then explain my conundrum, should I not expect that you will grant me your sage advice? Yes, because that's a figurative use of "desire" used to express an indirect request. But laws are typically interpreted using the most straightforward meaning of the words comprising them, and construed so as to avoid internal conflicts rather than create them.

True enough, but that you understood my intent without further clarification indicates that the figurative use of that particular word is well within the "plain meaning of the word" which is what is required by OrgLaw. mag

If someone at a party said that they were going to run on out to the store and get some beer, I'd know that they actually meant they were going to drive their car. Yet "run" doesn't mean "drive." The fact that you can use a term and have it be understood does not mean that its basic and plain meaning is the same in another context.

Yes, they are THERE. Not where the good Captain was sending folks in his posts. mag I was hoping that some people had been paying attention since 2012, and wanted to show them where the pre-2012 laws were. I suppose, they haven't been paying attention at all, and need the full body of laws?
