Hmmm. In New Zealand, we have a Translation Service which is administered as part of the Department of Internal Affairs. Apart from anything else, it translates documents into our second written language (Maaori) and provides interpreters for Maori and NZ Sign Language.
What I'm getting at is that I'm not overly fussed by the structure of the organsation. Either an official Government department under the BdG; or a QUANGO (quasi-autonomous non-government) structure under the CÚG.

Pretty much the same with Wales and Welsh, I understand.

In light of the debate, I have amended the text. I would ask that our legislators look over the changes I have made and comment accordingly if they are so inclined.

The Ladintsch Naziunal approves of the changes, and will begin translating the act into Talossan this evening, if there are no further changes to be made.

I like it, but one point of clarification: this bill says that the Director is appointed by the Ladintsch Naziunal. I have no problem with that per se, but the Sir Humphrey Appelby Act, as currently drafted, specifies that permanent secretaries make all nonpolitical appointments within their ministries. The conflict should be addressed in one bill or the other (e.g. if this bill is fine as-is, a caveat should be added to the other).

We're in a difficult situation here, because neither act has been passed yet. I don't intend to clark the Sir Humphrey Appleby Act until the next clark though, so I can always amend as necessary if this bill is passed by the Ziu.

I would agree with Sir Cresti and I do think this act should be submitted first. It is a good first step to gauge the mood of the Cosa.

Like I said, I'm going to submit this bill as it is. If it passes, we'll amend the Sir Humphrey Act as necessary; I think that's a tidier way of doing things.
Sir Iusti has volunteered to translate the act so it will be submitted in both Talossan and English.

Good plan. I plan to support this bill, and we can build the necessary flexibility into the other one as you say.

Except... the department of the census barely exists. Should we get on that?

One thing: A literal reading would suggest that the entire act is to be amended to say only the quoted text. I know this is not the case, and I would hope everyone else does, too, but you might want to cite the particular paragraph you're amending, just to cover all bases.

I would, but the Wiki is down.

I've changed it to read "the quoted section of..." if that's any help.
