I mick Ian, GV and Carlüs - specifically "new board where threads which have gotten out of hand will be moved". I suggest the name THE THUNDERDOME. Two Talossans enter, one Talossan leaves! The Thunderdome! Miestra, we found something to agree on!! Seriously though, I do think the suggestions are valid and why can't we simply try it?

It's worth a shot. But how are we going to define "politics?" We've seen that threads can drift, and that's both normal and healthy.

No, not "politics threads", "nasty threads got out of hand" go to the Thunderdome. They could be about stamp collecting or the circumflex over the a in the endings of Talossan feminine nouns and adjectives.

That pretty much defeats the purpose of my original suggestion.
I give up.

Fair enough, fair enough. Are you always such a condescending douche-bag?

Fair enough, fair enough. Are you always such a condescending douche-bag? I don't see any condescension in the quoted text, and even if I did, I don't think it appropriate to enter a conversation by calling someone a name like that.

Are you always such a condescending douche-bag? That is WAY over the line.

Or can you ask those that fight to take another bus, that better suits their needs? I don't care one way or another about this proposed board, but I now think it should be called "The Fight Bus"

That pretty much defeats the purpose of my original suggestion. I give up. My suggestion is better. But seriously - we had this discussion in the Republic and in Penguinea before that. Talossan politics is not some kind of extra-curricular activity. It is the very essence of how we define ourselves as a nation and what kind of nation we are. Consigning political debate (even polite political debate) to a ghetto is very helpful to those who don't want debate on Talossa's future - that is, the people who're in power right now, and the people who don't mind how things are right now. We've had enough, I think, of those who have different opinions of Talossa's essence and future being shouted down for "ruining other's fun". Mean-spirited, nasty and personalised argument is a bad thing, but political argument is a GOOD THING and should be encouraged.

Mean-spirited, nasty and personalised argument is a bad thing, but political argument is a GOOD THING and should be encouraged. I understand your logic. What I was trying to suggest, and change was - this isn't Mad King Ben's Kingdom. This isn't the Kingdom he left, the one that we removed his "Heir". Nor is it the Republic or Penguinea. It's a new Kingdom. I was never attempting or suggesting that we create a "ghetto" of Political commentary. I was never suggesting we ignore Political commentary. Nor was I suggesting that we stopped debating political ideas. It also had nothing ever to do with those who have "power" now, or might want to create and foster change. I never said that political argument was wrong, or that it shouldn't be encouraged. I was actually suggesting that we create an area where it would be advocated and encouraged. I never said it would be limited, prohibited , or discouraged. What I was suggesting that if people wanted to engage in a debate on political issues, they would have a forum for them to do that. What I was suggesting that for those that didn't want to be involved in that part of Talossa, they would know to avoid that area. What I was hoping for was an area that visitors and immigrants could visit, knowing that the arguments about policy and politics would rear it's ugly head. I failed at that. So, I'm not going to pursue that avenue anymore. It's apparent that some people want "All Politics, All The Time. " This just isn't for me anymore. Thank you for you comments, and your explanation.

I would ask that everyone please cease on this thread. It has crossed the line and has become exactly the thing this petition is trying to avoid. Douche bags? Condescending? Arguing for the sake of arguing. Please... just give us a board where we can talk about our nations non political stuff! Culture, arts, the language, friendship... you want argue politics? Fine! Have every board but the 'safe haven' board. I also want to point out that miestra thought (and I hope still thinks) this idea has good concepts. Rump thought it has good concepts... very few people spoke out against the concept! Give us a peaceful board so that everyone can be happy! On a side note... I neef to get out of this bathroom stall and get back to my birthday party!
