Update:
After discussion, it has been decided that a "Oath of Citizenship" that does not refer to the King, the Monarchy (or such ) should not disqualify an honorable Citizen from being awarded a Coat of Arms.
Therefore, the College will honour Iudas Levì Benjamì's Request for Arms.

Azul --
This is the first time I've logged in since my most recent post on this thread (many days ago), and holy heck, it seems my little jokes (I put smileys, folks!) turned into a big long thread. Be it known that I had absolutely no intention of putting the College into a political discussion, and my apologies for inadvertantly doing so.
The College is here to serve all citizens, and is happy to do so.
To the petitioner, I have modified your profile, as, yes, it is a violation of Wittiquette to use them (even debruised, and, if I may ask, why have you done that?* -- I admit I skipped over most of the posts in this thread; did you request the addition of the bendlet?) until they are granted by the Crown.

* Even after they are granted by the King, displaying your arms debruised may be a violation of Wittiquette, as they are a display of arms that are not yours. (That is, someone on earth could conceivably hold, or receive, arms that are blazoned "paly of seven azure and argent upon a chief four torteaux debruised by a bendlet sinister sable".) I'd have to check whether this would violate the policy of this forum on display of heraldic devices in profiles (note: this is a policy of the private Internet forum and its administrator -- which just happens to be me with the King -- not of the college itself). :-)

I did not request the addition of the bendlet. I added it in protest to what was (at the time) College policy.

I did not request the addition of the bendlet. I added it in protest to what was (at the time) College policy. It was never the POLICY of the College of Arms it was the opinion of a member of the college of arms. Big difference.

I follow. In essence, the word of the Dean was the final word until changed, so I saw it as having the force of policy.

And, I as soon as I made that public statement, I also wrote an open letter to the College, the Squirrel King, and the Blanc Wolf - asking for their opinion. At this point, I need to apologize to S:reu Bentaxami. I should have written to the College and opened up a discourse with the Fellows, Pursuivants, and Heralds BEFORE I made my public statement. Mea Culpa.

Well, Dean Preston (Actually, interesting question for our Heralds and etiquette folks on titles. If the person has multiple, which do you use? Is it Capt. Dean Senator Sir Preston? Is it based on context?) I can be a little surly as well. So next time you're in Charleston, we'll get a beer.

Heck, I could probably add " Secretar d’Estat (Retired)" , a "MC (Retired)" , and a few Parties I lead at one time or another. I guess it would depend on what line is blinking on my phone, to what you call me. I think "Mick" works fine (grins).

A round of applause to Mick and Iudas for the amicable resolution of this controversy.

Well... Wittiquette dictates we should be careful about titles, and I thought "Who better to answer that question than the heralds."

This petition for the College to spend its valuable time creating, drafting, discussing, petitioning, and seeking grant of arms for a person who does not exist is hereby terminated.
