I wanted to remind everyone of this thread as those Talossans who celebrate this season (for reasons other than the anniversary of our independence) prepare to make merry. I'll be posting another glhetgified carol here shortly.

Behold, the Talossan version of "What Child is This?" I used a more modern simplified version of the lyrics, which uses the second half of the first verse as a repeated refrain.

Through kindergarten and "after-school care", this was my most favourite Christmas song.
Since I found some words in the Översteir to be insufficient or metrically unsatisfactory, I had to derive new words (yes, I was that audacious). I will box them up to the Översteir, I am sure of it!

The word úmerþ túmert (coming from Tamazight "tumert", meaning "happiness", of feminine gender) has been used, because "felicità" really did not cut it...
The word întaraint is a negative formulation of "taraint". Is there any other negative prefix native to Talossan?
The word zamb'lent is shortened from "zambulent".
The word arð (coming from Germanic "earth/Erde" OR Arabic "أرض", meaning "world" or "ground", of masculine gender) has been used, because otherwise, the metrum could not have been really preserved. Furthermore, thus the "weite, weiße Welt"-alliteration could be employed.
The word riésticâ is the diminutive of "riestâ". If there is another way of forming diminutives in Talossan that I ignore, please feel free to tell me. riésticâs → riestétâs
The word profund' is shortened from "profundâ", because I really did not want to invent a shorter word for "deep (dream)".
I have shortened "el" to 'l.
Also, I have shortened "înalt" to 'nalt.
"suvimpla" has lost the last "a", just as "salidâ" and "grültelâ" have lost their "â", poor words...

For the record, the last verse of the chorus is sung followingly:
zamb'lent, noi | zambl'ent, trans | l'arð al-veu am-pléx ad-láint (as though it read: zamb'lent-noi, zamblent trans, ...)

Have you got the Classical Talossan dictionaries?

Nothing, I have always used the Översteir. If there are words that serve the metrum and, for example, the alliteration, TELL ME!

Last year I translated a Catalan carol. This time I'll start off with an Occitan one: Cantem Nadal. Talossan on the left, Occitan on the right:

Translation notes:
1. Cantem in the Occitan title and chorus is first person plural. Since the Talossan first person plural verb ending is ambiguous with third person plural and there's no room for a subject pronoun, I changed it to an imperative.

2. Talossan doesn't have a good cognate of encara ("again", compare French encore and Italian ancora) so I used ensemble ("together").

3. Oiset in the fifth verse is the diminutive form of an archaic word for "bird", oiseu. The standard word for bird is fugla, but that's a feminine noun and the rhyming scheme in this song consists almost entirely of contrived masculine diminutive endings. The diminutive of fugal is fugleta, which wouldn't have worked. Similarly I had to make up my own diminutive form of Vitxalmour (William): Vitxalmet. Normally you'd just stick -et on the end, but that would have been too long.
