Azul! It's far from complete, but the Talossan Wargaming Association (TWA) now has its very own website. Two TWA games (Byzantium Reborn, and Death in the Trenches) are currently being published, and two others (games of the US Civil War and the American Revolution) are being developed. The TWA page, as it is updated, will contain errata, optional rules, and designers' notes on all TWA projects. To visit the TWA home page, click on: www.execpc.com/~talossa/twa.htmlAny Talossans looking for membership in the TWA are invited to contact us. All Hail President Jahn! Ben

WHAT!? I'm President!? Well, ok, I'll wait for the first check. ;-)
As President, then, I hereby rename the TWA as follows: JAHNGAMES, Inc. All proceeds are hereby directed to President Jahn.
Now, GET TO WORK!
JJ:)

Although I haven't wargamed seriously since junior high, I was wondering if I could pretty-please be in the TWA too. The problem for me is finding ANYONE I know in my vicinity who is interested. So far, no luck. Hence I spend time on the computer playing Risk. Not quite the same.

Azul! Q, I'll bring your application for membership up at the next TWA meeting, which should be on Monday. (Though Wes and I are supposedly meeting tomorrow, and we will constitute a quorum, so we could just vote you in tomorrow!) I'll be glad to update the page when you're admitted--tell me something about your wargaming habits, your collection, etc., and I'll put that info up. Thanks! BTW, one of the great strengths of wargames (especially nowadays) is that they're designed with solitaire play in mind. A good simple game that works reasonably well solitaire is Avalanche Press' "Soldier Kings," a strategic treatment of the Seven Years War. It's available online unless it's sold out. ;-) The best place to go to rekindle your interest in the hobby (I need a link to this from the TWA page) is the Grognards page: www.grognard.com -- that's the single best wargame-related website I know of. And the best place to buy games is eBay. Ben

Thanks for the info, Ben!
I played Harpoon a LOT when I was in junior high. My friends and I would lay a grid on the top of a pool table and play that one. I have it somewhere, but I can't seem to find it right now. I also have the original Harpoon computer game that I bought in the early 90's.
We also played some computer ones, but the only one I remember was called Rommel. It was simple, but neat.

I've never played Harpoon, but there is a module for the Falklands war that I've bid on probably 20 times on eBay... every time I bid on it, somebody comes and snipes me at the last minute! I can't believe there's that much interest in the Falklands War. I suspect the seller is trying to drive up his own prices.

I used to play a lot of Risk and Axis and Allies. My friends and I would play Axis and Allies for days at a time. I have played Castle Risk a few times as well.
I am not sure if this is enough to qualify for membership. Are there any sites where I can find good games to play online?

Azul! Q: JJ, Wes and I will be meeting on Monday and I'm sure your application for membership will be roundly approved. :-) Mark: I don't know... try www.grognard.com -- that may give you some information about online games. I've never played one, though. I'm into good-old-fashioned paper maps and cardboard counters! Ben

Azul, Quedéir!
You have been officially elected the 4th member of the Talossan Wargaming Association--congratulations!
Could you send me (or post) a brief statement of your wargaming 'qualifications' (for want of a better word...) so I can update the website?
Thanks, and welcome aboard!
Ben

Q, I should have the TWA website updated tonight or tomorrow. In the meantime, click on my.execpc.com/~talossa/308counters.pdf to see the current (still unfinished) countermix from the Erni/Madison "Death in the Trenches," still under production from Schutze Games in Australia. The counter art is GORGEOUS! (Warning, this is a very big file, so don't expect it to d/l quickly on your garden variety home computer...) Ben

Azul! The Talossan Wargaming Association website... www.execpc.com/~talossa/twa.html...has been updated to include new Microgame Design Group information (re. our "Byzantium Reborn" game) as well as a link to Decision Games, future publishers (we hope) of "Global War." You can click on Decision Games right from the TWA page--go to game #25 (Global War) and place your pledge order. The more pledges they get, the faster Global War will finally get published. Ben
