Flawless, congrats. Would the prepositions then follow, as in: "Ich habe meine Papiere zurückgelassen bei dem Hotel." As Ián said, the verb comes last, so: "Ich habe meine Papiere bei / in dem Hotel zurückgelassen." (The preposition depends on what your are wanting to say. If is meant to denote the place where you left your documents, then it is "in dem (im) Hotel"; if it is a person who took care of the documents, then it is something like "bei dem (beim) Hoteldirektor" (for instance); "bei dem (beim) Hotel" is a tad more like somewhere near the hotel, whereas not completely incomprehensible. I find it terribly difficult to pick the appropriate prepositions in English, so I guess it may be similarly difficult the other way round.)

Don't expect a lot of grammatical insight, though - the good thing about speaking the native language is that one doesn't have to be aware of all the tricky rules all the time.

What a fantastic thread! I hope you German-speaking wunder-menschen will keep it up, because it's interesting to read! Well, good luck that it is long time ago, that "German Wundermenschen" existed... All I can tell you is that German isn`t that difficult - i am really not a genius, but i spoke it since i was a little boy... BTW, @d. N. Vercáriâ: Another German-Talossan here, cool ! Are there even other ones ? You come from FFM - funny, that`s close to my place...

Damn, I had not discovered the second page and answered to the last thread on the first page.
Oh, Dieter. I am in Stuttgart, true. But from 10/10/2013 through 03/2014, I am residing in Southern Tenerife!

@d. N. Vercáriâ: Bit east of Frankfurt. Autokennzeichen OF? Come on, don't be shy, say it. Yep, close to the centre of the city.
