Ladies and gentlemen, let me first get the clichéd thanks to all those who voted for me out of the way. It really is an honour to serve another term as leader of the great, republican, and democratic party that we are. As always, I'll keep it short, and relatively motivational.
We’ve heard some fantastic speeches this time ‘round, on future strategy and on our performance; we’ve tinkered with our manifesto and with our constitution; we’ve elected our Central Committee and our party officers. I’m slightly embarrassed to say that one thing we haven’t done much of this time, is RUMP-slapping… The RUMP whose majority was slashed in the last election, who now only cling to the reins of government because of the so-called Independent Party allow them to. Let me ask you this, members; what did they get out of this coalition? What benefit did the IND see as a result of this coalition that oppositionists wouldn’t have otherwise been able to provide? Nothing!
It is for this reason that we must double our efforts during the election period later this year. If we are to ensure that such a travesty is to be avoided next time, we must further slash the majority of the RUMP so that they will need more than a small satellite party to keep them in power. The period following the last election showed me that forming a coalition with my fellow oppositionist leaders is not simply a possibility, but a manageable and attainable scenario. Whilst I’m sure we would all love to govern by ourselves, the reality is that our best chances after the next election lie in coalition. Us oppositionists may not agree on every issue, but I’m certain there’s common ground to be found between each of our parties – enough so that we can offer a viable, progressive and stable alternative to RUMP’s political tyranny.
Moving on to our closest political ally… Whilst it’s encouraging to see another republican party pop up, there’s no doubt that it’s something of a power trip on the part of S:reu Carbonel. His LPR is nothing but a soapbox for his dissidence, for his ridiculous claims, and for accusations. He is the beneficiary of republicanism’s good name, for it is on the back of republican voters who don’t have a large breadth of knowledge when it comes to the hordes of Talossan political parties that Carbonel receives seats. This has to change. We need to assert our position as stalwart advocates of republicanismeu, and we need to make sure that we deliver that message clearly and concisely to every last Talossan in this great nation. We need to make sure that the message says “look guys, if you’re going to vote republican, vote for the original flavour! VOTE VANILLA REPUBLICANISM!
We all know that our republican values of democracy, of choice and accountability are what’s best for Talossa. We all know that preferential treatment, privilege and the prison of rigidity needs to be a thing of the past in Talossa, so let’s make it happen. Scrap that, let’s KEEP MAKING THAT HAPPEN! Little by little, one step at a time we are making significant changes in Talossa, and we are good at it. Whilst a few of our policies are met with controversy through murmurs of disagreement from our RUMPist rulers, we see many of our smaller changes sail through, sometimes without opposition in the Cosa. We have radical change, we have moderate change, and we have changes to suit everyone in Talossa. We are the party of change, and heck, with your help we are ready to give RUMP a kick up the ARSE!
Thank you!
