Hmmm.... Virtually every time I check in on this message board (I guess that's the "official" description) I see a series of ads across the top. I've noticed that virtually every one is somehow anti-President Bush.
Today's ad just prompted me to finally complain about it. A picture of the Prez with a slogan of "Send him back to Crawford" or something like that.
I don't know why this is the case or if anything can be done about it but I, for one, don't like it.

I think these are more than balanced by the ads I've seen for books in the Sorbian language! ;-)

I think the ads are prompted by keywords used within Wittenberg (i.e. election, language etc.). Hey, it is the price to pay to have a free and powerful enough board. Marc Moisan, C.D. Acting Secretary of State

We must be talking about citizenship lately, because there was a big banner ad today that said "APPLY FOR US CITIZENSHIP TODAY!" ;-)

Remember Ian,
"Even the Jackal can bark at the Lion"! One of the reasons I enjoy Talossa is because I am bored to death of the real world, it's press especially. So from this corner the only politic's you will find will involve the Kingdom. Hope I see you over the holidays! Fritz

Boy this is OLD stuff you're reading there, Ramses! This place was deluged with anti-Bush ads during the election months and it made it very inhospitable to come here every day and see them slashed across the top. "Remember Ian, "Even the Jackal can bark at the Lion"! HUH!? So, which am I? I never like these things! WHAT ARE YOU SAYING?! "One of the reasons I enjoy Talossa is because I am bored to death of the real world, it's press especially. So from this corner the only politic's you will find will involve the Kingdom." All well and good...but you will see that from time-to-time, the "real world" creeps into our discussions, and things involving the US in particular have often dominated the discourse for days. It just happens. Someone writes something, someone takes offense or whatever, others chime in, it grows exponentially from there. It happens...or shall I say, sh -- it happens? "Hope I see you over the holidays!" Fritz Would be nice but not going to happen, I'm afraid. Well, I'll see you next year! -IM

Dear Ian,
I think you're right. Personally I'm anti-Bush, but I don't talk about American politics and don't like the fact that almost only American affairs are discussed or talked about on Witt. Talossa may be a "micronation" or "fake nation" or "whatevernation" you may call it, but it's supposed to be an independent country, so it must be as international or neutral as possible in political matters.

"...but it's supposed to be an independent country, so it must be as international or neutral as possible in political matters."
Of course, all Independent Countries pursue their own agendas and are not "international" or "neutral" in outlook...but I know what you're saying. We have had long debates throughout Talossan history about where Talossa should stand among the world's nations:
1) completely ignore the outside world 2) only pay attention to the USA 3) strictly follow and support the USA (generally this has been MY position) 4) be neutral like Switzerland 5) be openly hostile to/opposed to the USA
There may be other positions but most people have fallen into one or more of those general categories. You may be a combination of #1 and #4.
But, like the horrible earthquake and all recently, people just feel compelled to address things happening in the wider world. It's when we get into their politics that we generally have problems (such as the recent spat between Ben and myself over the US election). Ideally, that shouldn't happen.

You're partly right, Ian. I'd like Talossa to be neutral like Switzerland, but Talossa is made up of real people who have their own beliefs and opinions, not always fair or well-balanced. But we can't be deaf and mute and just wait for things to happen.
