Continuing on some of the things I said here: talossa.proboards.com/index.cgi?board=chatroom&action=display&thread=6819
Cézembre has always been the most awesome province. My attempts to build a website have not been a big success. Yet I still dream of a more active Cézembrean provincial life. Things have changed in Talossa recently. Witt is getting more crowded every day, we have many new citizens, including Cézembreans. More and more people seem to agree that witt needs reform. That one forum on the long term will not be enough to control the growing flow of information in Talossa. That the role of press is going to increase. That there needs to be an official government forum and next to that separate private forums. I think the time for Cézembre to start thinking about its online future has come. I would personally like to see a separate forum for Cézembreans, to discuss provincial culture, but also to conduct provincial stuff, including the elections of a senators.
I know there are many barriers. Citizen will not come to visit a separate provincial forum if theres nothing interesting to do there. We should not want to replace witt in the near future, as ties to Talossans from other provinces are not strong enough outside witt. We dont have a lot of active citizens yet.
Still I think it can be done. We have a working constitution. We have a working assembly. Also, there are plans that most parties support to make provinces responsible for senatorial elections.
I dont believe in the near future a separate Cézembrean forum will be very active, although we can have temporary boosts of activity during provincial elections. However, on the long term (Im talking 10-20 years, when witt becomes too crowded and cant handle all the information any more and active population will grow, I believe a provincial forum can be very useful and have a positive effect on provincial activity. Creating a forum for ourselves now can turn out great in the future.
So thats why I want to suggest a few things for next term:
- Working on a amending the constitution so we can conduct senatorial elections, if national amendments to the orglaw will be passed to allow that.
- End 2012/begin 2013 working on creating our own forum. Maybe something like cezembre.proboards.com, maybe something else. Wed have to keep the provincial subboard to inform citizens of the stuff that is going on there. The forum would be for both official and unofficial stuff as a split between the two is not yet something we can handle.
- Abandoning TST and coming up with our own time, as Cézembrean affairs being conducted based on GMT-7 is a bit odd, considering that Cézembre itself is GMT+0/+1
We would also have to think about the position of the Sénéchal, who is now both something like provincial sos and responsible for the Cézembre page on kot.net. Maybe the Sénéchal could appoint someone for admin stuff, so there wouldnt be a new admin every time we have a new Sénéchal. Same goes for conducting provincial elections. I dont know what would be the best solution, but Im sure we could figure something out.
These are just some ideas. I dont know how realistic they are. What does everyone think?
