The position of Senator from Fiôvâ now exists, and will be filled by election at the same time as the Cosâ election, July 14th.
It has been pointed out to me that as acting Capitán, I have the power to make a temporary appointment to fill the vacancy until the election. This would of course be a totally ceremonial appointment as the Ziu is not currently in session, but the title of first Senator might be a nice "honour" to give out for someone who has "dared something worthy" in the Reunision period.
It is no secret that I intend to stand for this role in the election. So it would be totally inappropriate for me to fill the vacancy myself. So I was wondering whether the broad masses think there's someone who should be honoured with the title, or whether we should just leave it vacant until the election.

According to our Republican traditions, the best way of becoming honoured is being elected, isn't it?

What about Coop? You said the position is ceremonial. Give it to him.

I appreciate the idea of honouring Coop, but he's dead and we are not North Korea. W/o offence, let's find a better way of showing our respect for him.

We already named a canton after the guy. Maybe we could all wear little badges with his face on it.

Well, I know I have absolutely no standing here, but I might suggest Deet, whose insistence on recognition of Republic dates for those who arrived after 1 June 2004 was a key part (a "worthy dare") in the Reunision negotiations.

Ok. Let's give it to Deet.

You could do far worse than Deet.

I would have said the same about the Capitan, but sadly that wasn't possible. The first Senator should, without a doubt, be an elected individual.
