I was wondering whether it would be possible to create some kind of political vote match test or something like that for the next cosa elections. It would be really fun and I guess helpful as well, because I think many voters are voting without having a clue what they are voting for. I think I could make something like that with excel or maybe some online quizmaking program.
It would take a lot of time though, especially because we would need to agree on the questions and all cooperating parties would have to come up with their answer to the questions. But the elections are still very far away.
So I wonder, which parties would agree with this and be willing to cooperate?

I'm not 100% sure what you mean, but I'd be interested in seeing (or helping with?) whatever it is.

Is it something like this:
1) do you think Talossa should be a happy micronation? Yes 2) do you agree that Talossa deserves to have a logic law system and whatever system et cetera? Yes ... 55) Do you think the grass is either yellow-green or blue-green? Blue-green
processing...
Your best match is MRPT!
Am I correct? If so, seems like an interesting idea for me!

Not being a member of any party, I'd love to participate in developing such a political compass quiz. Done right, they can be very illuminating. Their big drawback is that they don't measure trust for politicians and what the voters think of the qualifications and professionalism of the politicians, which I think is a lot more important in a micronation or small community, but that can't be helped.

Speaking as a fledgling Talossan paddling frantically in the occasionally murky waters of Talossan politics, I'd find such a thing very interesting. Might be a challenge though, gleaming what I can, I've come to the conclusion that the sliding scale of Talossan politics is less a line than a circle.

There are two challenges we have to face if we want to do this: creating the questions (which will be the most difficult problem I guess) and making a program. We could use some internet site like selectsmart.com or make one ourselves(for example using excel). That will give us some more freedom, but it wont look very nice and there wouldnt be any buttons to press. Heres something I tried using excel: www.kingdomoftalossa.net/Example.xlsx . I dont know if it will work in english because I used Dutch commands.

In any case, the biggest problem would be coming up with objective questions. I think the best way to do this is that every party would come up with the same number of question, but still the wording of the questions would matter a lot, so I think some indepedent Talossan would have to make sure all questions are fair. But then again, it is still very early, most parties dont have a manifesto yet, still three months before the election and I dont know how many parties would agree to participate. So I think we wont be able to create anything for at least two months.

edited ... between beginning a comment, getting distracted, and posting it, it became not-so-important. So yeah, I look forward to seeing how these objective criteria are met.
Do you think Talossa should be a happy nation? (If the answer is no, you should vote for Doug's party? Yeah, I can see that happening.)

Questions like that might indeed be a problem. In any case I think all parties should give their own answer to the questions. (Although we should find a way to prevent parties from lying "Yes the MRPT would fully support getting rid of the three strikes rule, who cares what our manifesto says") Also, before it is launched all parties that want to participate would have to agree with the final result.
PS Can anyone check if the excel thing works in other countries?

But if all parties agree with where they're put, what's the point of having a test? Why don't we just plot ourselves on the axis?
Look, what you need to do firstly is decide what the political spectra that matter in Talossa are, and then work out your own questions which rate the various parties along those spectra. We have already: Derivatist / Peculiarist; Conservative / Progressive... which are the other important ones?

The idea was to help undecided voters know with party they agree on the issues (though there are obviously other things to consider),
but I guess we could add some political compass axis thing if we can decide which ideas belong to what ideology.

The spreadsheet works.
The way to conduct a compass quiz like this is basically to:
* develop a number of critical questions, typically 20, where the quizmakers expect not all parties to agree. * put those questions to all parties and record their answers and how important they are to the party. * ask the same questions, in the same way, to the voters and then match them up against the replies from the parties.
I'm sure there is quiz making software out there to make this relatively simple. The cracker is to come up with those 20 questions.
As I wrote, I'm unaffiliated and I volunteer to assist.

Would you like to be in charge of making the questions when the time comes?
