Welcome Benitians! (and others too, I suppose)
I will lay a few general guidelines for the festival. Post as much of your work as possible for us to enjoy, but please, restrict your work to one post within this thread so we can keep track of everything.
To make this an enjoyable experience for all, we shall also abide by the following rules:
1. No sexually explicit work
2. No work which advocates, supports, condones (or provides directions in how to achieve) any violent or criminal act, either under Talossan or U.S. Law.
3. No bashing of ethnicities, religions, genders, sexual orientations or anything else that would put you in the category of "being a jerk."
4. Please post only your own work. If you have a friend who wants their work on display, please post it only with their permission and with clear attribution.
5. No spitting, and keep dogs and sailors off of the grass
Also, after posting, please PM me the following information (if you want your letter of participation):
1. Name you want on the letter (i.e. Talossan name) 2. Name you want on the envelope 3. Mailing address

To start things off, I thought I would post just a few little projects. As some of you know, I am sort of an amateur jeweler and that is definitely my preferred medium. Currently, I only have two pieces to display as my proud work. This pendant and earring set is made of fine silver. The stone is a green cubic zirconia. All findings are also crafted from fine silver but were purchased. The patina was added with liver of sulfer. This pendant is one of my first pieces and one of the few of the original batch that I gave to my wife. The square pendant is brass and the checkered pattern is engraved into the metal. The chord is black leather. While I hardly consider myself a painter, I found myself becoming nostalgic not too long ago, remembering youthful days planted in front of a TV as my father fiddled with the rabbit ears so that I could watch Bob Ross paint with minimal snow be-speckling his happy trees. So, I bought a Bob Ross DVD and tried my hand at painting. Still a bit rough around the edges but I thought it might be fun to explore a new medium. This was a seascape painted with the wet-on-wet technique. I'm not sure why the sand is purple and I admit my lighthouse sucks and the sun kind of looks like an omelet gone wrong, but hey, I'm shooting from the hip here. Seeing as how my coat of arms includes an image of the olive tree, I thought it would be fun to create something dedicated to my namesake.

Recently, I have been fiddling about and practising with some graphics software, learning the cool features and such. For the festival, I decided to put some of these new techniques into action and make some Talossan graphic stuff. So, I guess this would be some Talossan electronic modern art Firstly, a piece featuring the Kingdom of Talossa's Grand Art Gallery. Effects used here are obvious, a green wash layer added to the building, which has been cropped from its original background then superimposed on a black/dark grey gradient. Background lighting effects also added. Next up is another iconic building within the Kingdom. This is a display of several colour changing effects to create the dramatic looking sky. A piece of modern history from TWest 2005 here. Effects used to create a grainy, vintage look to the photo, before being cropped then placed upon leather effect to give the feel of a photo album, or display board. Gold effect text added also. Just messing around with different lighting effects and layer modes in this next one: My take on this: and this: Hope you liked!

Don't worry; although it's been six weeks or more since the Arts Festival has had an exhibit, I still hope to get something on display before the term of the exhibit runs!
