Fellow M-Mers, I wanted to open a first weekly discussion thread on any issues that provincial residents would like to broach. I can also be reached at the following numbers should anyone be interested in talking via phone: Home 406-859-2955 or Mobile 502-275-9367 and available via most major social platforms (Facebook, MySpace, YahooIM, MSN, AOL, Gchat, ICQ, Twitter and LinkedIn). I will also be calling some residents randomly just to touch base as well. I really want this to be a dialogue that is both continuous and initiated from both ends. So, from the start I am all open ears. Which is notable since I have pretty large ears. In solidarity, Breneir

My Dear Senator:
There is a question I have for you.
I think I read somewhere that you were going to suggest that M-M try out the "Beauty Queen" voting concept?
You know, the idea where you vote "One from Column A - but if that doesn't work, then One from Column B - oh, wait, that didn't work either? - then how about Column C? "
Please tell me that you will not bring this abomination of Democracy to our Province! We have always stood for "One man, one vote". Please tell me you don't endorse "One man, Many votes" ?

Thanks for the question, Captain.
Well I do support and endorse preferential voting systems such as instant runoff voting. As mentioned in the debates, I would support a pilot program where we try instant runoff voting among other ideas and eagerly anticipate the possibility of such debate within the provincial Assembly.
It is ultimately a decision of the Assembly but I would be more than happy to provide an argument to the august body on the benefits of such a program.
