This is a great opportunity for the Kingdom of Talossa to be recognized as an official site for a worldwide event. This would have the chance to be considered in the September 2009 Clark as that voting period would be completed one day prior to the event deadline, should the hopper comments encourage such a submission for consideration by the Ziu.
###
Resolution defining September 22nd as Carfree Day in the Kingdom of Talossa
Whereas every September 22, people from around the world get together in the streets, intersections, and neighbourhood blocks to remind the world that we don't have to accept our car-dominated society; and
Whereas the citizens residing within the Kingdom can walk from the northern to southern border in approximately 90 minutes, and from the eastern to western border in approximately 20 minutes; and
Whereas there are many off street trails and on street bike lanes, as well as preferred bike streets within the Kingdom; and
Whereas the Milwaukee County Transit System Route 15 (Oakland to Kinnickinnic) offers frequent service through the core of the Kingdom, as well as connections to many other transit services; and
Whereas the Amtrak Milwaukee, WI (MKE) station is located within the Kingdom at 433 West St. Paul Avenue; and
Whereas there are no cars in Cézembre Province or Pengöpäts Territory anyway; and
Whereas there are many transportation alternatives that citizens residing outside of the greater Talossan area can take advantage of;
Be It Hereby Resolved, That The Kingdom Of Talossa upon the 22nd of September of each year shall celebrate
CARFREE DAY
and shall encourage all Talossans to the best of their ability to use transportation other than personal automobiles on that date; and recognize those Talossans who make the effort to be Carfree on at least this one day per year;
