THE GAGGLE OF SUBSTITUTES ACT
Whereas, Talossans are fervent food and beverage enthusiasts with a boundless ability to enjoy epicurean delights; and
Whereas, the fine Tex-Mex offerings of Taco Bell with its unlimited access to soda refills are the official ethnic cuisine of the Kingdom of Talossa; and
Whereas, not all citizens of the Kingdom live in areas that have Taco Bell restaurants; and
Whereas, all citizens have the right to enjoy our national ethnic cuisine; and
Whereas, cognizant of this situation, Z-Tec is encouraged as an emergency substitute; and
Whereas, citizens that live in areas without a Z-Tec or a Taco Bell still have no substitute for enjoyment of our official ethnic cuisine; and
Therefore, be it hereby resolved that the Ziu:
Add Del Taco, Green Burrito, Red Burrito, Maui Tacos, Taco John's, Chiquitos, Q'doba, and Chipotle to the list of acceptable substitutes for the enjoyment of our official ethnic cuisine;
Consider local Tex-Mex cuisine offerings as acceptable substitutes should none of the above mentioned options be available;
Encourage citizens to enjoy our national ethnic cuisine, Taco Bell, one of the above-listed subsitutes, or a local Tex-Mex offering in their area in celebration of Talossan Independence Day (December 26th).

Better add Long John Silvers ... they have fish tacos now too
Taco Bell is historical to Talossans not because of the food but because it was the first restaurant to offer unlimited refills on pop so Talossans could meet there and sit and eat and then drink their fill of Pepsi discussing matters of the Crown. There is more to this history than just a style of food. The Grecian Delight in Benito would be a better taste of what Talossans ventured with their taste buds bare!
While I have not determined the way I will vote on this legislation, the bill in its current form, intending to be good actually is way off the mark of the historical significance in its current form.

Senator, thank you for your context. History notwithstanding...Taco Bell is a restaurant that serves Mexican food. And this restaurant that serves Mexican food is the "official ethnic cuisine of the nation". So, I think this bill still serves the intended purpose.
Nonetheless Senator, I am thankful for the history lesson as one can never know too much concerning the origins of national culture and lore. Thanks.

I feel sorry for those who are without Taco Bell.
Perhaps we should have an initiative to air drop chalupas to people in these distant lands....
Also, I'd like it on record that Capt. Asmourescu thinks that Del Taco sucks.

I believe Dairy Queen sells tacos as well. And on a more serious note (if a thread about tacos can be called "serious"): What about Taco Mayo? Or Taco Bueno? [Incidentally, Taco Bueno is the only restaurant in OSU's Student Union Building where you can get unlimited refills. Just thought I'd share. ]

I admire the spirit of the bill. It allows Talossans who are without a Taco Bell to connect with their heritage.
However, there are simply too many fast food restaurants that sell Tacos. What if we gave sort of a blanket honoring to non-Taco Bell tacos. We can make a whole ritual about eating Tacos outside of Talossa.
It will be like Passover.....with Tacos.

"Consider local Tex-Mex cuisine offerings outside of North America as acceptable substitutes should none of the above mentioned options be available;"Captain, this clause serves the intended purpose of covering other places that offer tacos or something similar.

Again I would point out the unlimited refills historically being the reason and potentially add to this Bill that they offer Tex-Mex cuisine AND unlimited drink refills. We take it for granted in the US but for Example El Burrito Loco here serves drinks in bottles (can you believe they have to have a sign on the wall to tell people that there are no refills?!?!?)
Also as it has been pointed out not everywhere in North America has Taco Bell.

The bill has been modified to reflect the Senator's concerns. I have included language concerning our need for "unlimited beverage refills" and eliminated language concerning substitutes outside of North America.
