Attention Atatürkeys:
I hereby publish the order to assemble the Atatürk House of Commons. I would like to see everyone in the chamber by Friday, 14 AUG. And everyone in the Province is invited.
Just so everyone can know our agenda, here it is. 1.) Elect a Premier. 2.) We, as the legislative body, can refine the proposed Constitution and submit it to the Province for ratification. 3.) Any other reasonable business that we have the time and sobriety for.
To get the ball rolling, are there any volunteers to be Premier?
Also, how many seats are there in the House of Commons? How many should there be? Since the election results are 7-6 RUMP, we need to establish this PDQ so we can start working on the business at hand.

Also, how many seats are there in the House of Commons? How many should there be? Also, how do we allocate them? I suggest the number of seats be 10% of the number of seats in the Cosa, or 20. Should the Province explode in population to the point that more than 20 people want to participate in the provincial legislature, the constitution can be amended and the number of seats increased. I propose that the allocation of these seats reflect the percentages of votes the parties received during the election compared to the total number of votes received from the province. An example. This G.E. saw 13 votes in Atatürk. RUMP got the nod 7 times, the PP party 6 times. 7/13 = 53.8% 6/13 = 46.2% 20 * .538 = 10.76 20 * .462 = 9.24 Rounding we get: RUMP holds 11 seats PP party holds 9 seats Thoughts?

If that's the plan, Forestal to receive 5 seats and Ursum 4.

All of this sounds great to me. Does this mean we're an "active" Province now?

Probably not. It just means that we're trying to do something. Again.

Heh. Fair 'nuff. I believe I've like to give Premier-ship a go, and so I announce my entry into the running. My campaign platform is as follows: - I will strive to use my lack of experience as an asset.
- I will endeavor to understand and reflect the will of all Ataturkeys.
- I will maintain 100% transparency at all times, and will be available to each and every Ataturkey for personal contact.
- I will work to see that a Provincial Constitution is ratified by the end of the 40th Cosa.
- I will absolutely, positively, without question, NOT run for a second term, under any circumstances, period.
Danihel Forestal (but call me danielo, eh?)

On the Constitutional issues, I would support an Assembly which consists of all Ataturkeys who wish to participate, and a Premier directly elected by the people. There is an authentic Turkish community within Ataturk, so perhaps the provincial institutions' names should be given a Turkish flavour...
I am probably being a bit naïve on the direct democracy issue. I wouldn't mind if the Assembly was arranged as the Rt Hon. Brad suggested.

Direct democracy is what I had envisioned initially as well, though I think with the small number of active participants we're dealing with, I don't know that either (direct democracy v. assembly) would be distinguishable from t'other. So far, it would seem there are three of us who are even paying attention to this thread. There may be two or three more that wander by before we're through. Perhaps a benevolent dictator would be most practical?

Perhaps a benevolent dictator would be most practical? Already in place... But I'm always looking to share some of the load.

Okay,
I support Hon. Assemblyman Forestál's candidacy for Premiership. We really must stir up activity and get things going. We are the second-largest province, after all.
Perhaps we should now begin a process of collaborative Constitution-refining, in this sub-forum, and let all Atatürkeys be involved in the process.

My campaign is really picking up steam. I found a dollar on the ground, which I immediately used to start a campaign fund. However, I used it to purchase a soda, and so now my campaign coffers are down to US$0.14.

Where did you buy an 86¢ soda? The "$1.72 Soda Store" was having a half-off sale.

In Britain, if you ask for soda, they give you this: ...which isn't cool. E
