May Michael Joseph Jackson rest in peace after his death by cardiac arrest today. I grew up listening to his music and while concerned by his weird personal life I still think his music represents the best of what, at the time, was an emergent musical trend, pop. Long live the King of Pop...and his sequin jackets!
I will now dance the moonwalk...and take a look at the teary eyed man in the mirror.

Quite the 70's icon trifecta in the dead server pool this week. McMahon, Fawcett and Jackson - yes I know that perhaps Michael's greatest success was "Thriller" in late '82, but I prefer to think of him from the earlier days along with the Jackson 5. Perhaps they are all sitting on the couch at a Tonight Show in the sky...

And to quell an internet rumor.... Sorry, but Jacko, Farrah and Ed McMahon never appeared together on "The Tonight Show" Boy, here is a great lesson of "if it seems too good to be true ... look it up!" Fellow Twitter nut Troy Diggs at KMBC-9 passed along this tweet this evening as we were all remembering the late King of Pop: @ryanmer On 09/18/1979, Farrah Fawcett & Michael Jackson were both guests on the Tonight Show w/Johnny Carson, co-hosted by Ed McMahon. Great factoid, and I posted it immediately, and it rapidly spread from there. A few minutes later, it occurred to me that mebbe I should've checked it out first. So I went to JohnnyCarson.com, the official "Tonight Show" site maintained by Carson Enterprises, and went to its comprehensive, 30-year guest search function. See the video for yourself: Not only did Jacko never appear with Farrah Fawcett, he never appeared on the "Tonight Show" after the Jackson 5 days, according to the guest database. And in fact, a search for 09/18/1979 revealed ... Johnny didn't do a show that night. Oddly enough, the late Fawcett appeared twice on the "Tonight Show" with the Temptations source

According to IMDB, Farrah's only appearance on The Tonight Show With Johnny Carson was in 1992, long after her "Angel" days. IIRC, NBC didn't book any talent appearing on "another network" during much of Johnny's run.
If IMDB is to be trusted, Farrah appeared with Jay thrice, and Letterman thrice, but Carson only that once (on a show in which Doc was doing the late lamented Ed's job -- Ed had the day off).
First one to find a photo with even two of Ed, Farrah, and Jacko together wins. Cuz I've looked and haven't found one yet....

Rest in Peace. A true fallen star, may he find peace in the afterlife.
