Azul!
Check your calendars, gentlemen -- how does Sunday, 10 July 2005 work for TalossaFest?
Venue T.B.A. of course. Fritz has suggested his home as a venue, and that would work beautifully.
One highlight of this TalossaFest will be, I am told, the appearance of a film-maker who is preparing a documentary which will contain interviews with and information about Talossa, for national (possibly global) distribution. I am sure arrangements can be made for anonymity (like shooting in profile in a darkened room...) for those wishing to preserve same. The guy working on this project sounds pretty classy.
Anyhow, please get in touch with me in terms of "Can't make it at all, go ahead without me," "Can make it but not on that date," "Can make it on that date," or (hopefullly not!) various arrangements and combinations thereof.

I was hoping that I might make it to my first TalossaFest this year, however it does not look like I will be able to.

Try priceline.com for airfare from Halifax to Milwaukee -- you can save tons of money on priceline, I know, I've done it. This has been a totally un-solicited plug for the William Shatner-endorsed Priceline. Ben

I know these things need to be planned way in advacne for our out-of-town guests/would-be guests...but there's no way I can tell you at this point what I'll be up to on July 10th! I will make one "general observation" about T-Fest, Anniversary parties, Immigration Days, etc. --- Saturdays are far, far preferable to Sundays. I think that goes not just for me, but for anyone else who works Mon-Fri, and even I would say for out-of-town visitors, if any, who might be more interested in booking departing flights on Sundays.

Interesting point, although getting off work on a Monday should be just as easy as getting off work on a Friday. At any rate, the two out-of-towners who have expressed an interest in coming (Ken Velméir and Dave Foctéir) have only just been contacted -- this afternoon -- and I'm waiting on their replies before any firm decision is made. Tomás won't be coming on account of the soon-to-be-arriving Tomásid. Which will be very weird as this will be the first TalossaFest since 1998 or so without him here! Ben

I think my home should be an ideal site. It is up against a park where we can gather, with public rest rooms and a pavillion in case of rain. They also have grills for individual barbrecues and the llike. The Milwaukee River runs along the park and there are ducks, geese, cranes and of course, the nudist beach. For Talossans traveling any distance I recomend local members offer accomadations when able. I have a guest room that is availible on a first ask, first get basis. I live in Thiensville, 25 minutes from Milwaukee. If this turns out to be acceptable then a map with directions will follow. ;D

"Interesting point, although getting off work on a Monday should be just as easy as getting off work on a Friday." Umm... there are limits to the number of days per year in which people can take off from work. Secondly, if the event is held Saturday no one needs to burn one of their days off even if such are available, and thirdly, Fridays don't matter, either if the party is Saturday. I'm sorry, but I don't get this fixation on Sundays. Now, on to Fritz's comments... "I think my home should be an ideal site. It is up against a park where we can gather, with public rest rooms and a pavillion in case of rain. They also have grills for individual barbrecues and the llike." Generally speaking, park areas need to be reserved ahead of time or else people who have reserved the picnic areas can prevent you from taking their space. Beyond that, this sounds good. "The Milwaukee River runs along the park and there are ducks, geese, cranes and of course, the nudist beach." This can be Talossa's first nudist T-fest!!! Ummm...never mind. Secondly, I can't imagine a park setting in this area that did NOT have GEESE up the wazoo... in fact, there are so damn many of them that the grass areas are treacherous (if you get my drift)... "For Talossans traveling any distance I recomend local members offer accomadations when able." Agreed. I'll see what I can do about that...assuming I can get the hidden cameras installed in time...especially if Dave's staying over. "I have a guest room that is availible on a first ask, first get basis." I should think "Most paid-most gets" basis better. "I live in Thiensville, 25 minutes from Milwaukee. If this turns out to be acceptable then a map with directions will follow." Sehr gut, Fearless Leader!!

Ah, a definite possibility. The nudist beach isn't bothersome. I heard Fritz does guided tours of the place.

Let me say in my defense that the "incident" involving the binoculars and the local police was highly over reported. I hope to have you visit my home before Talossa Fest Greg. Just to check out, er, certain facilities for the kingdom.

Zooks, I thought I'd replied to this thread. Where'd my post go?
I can put up a few folks up at Gently Manor (where last TalossaFest was held) -- our guest room has a bunk bed, and we have a couch or three.
I could also possibly host, but I have rather monopolized the last few gatherings, haven't I?
Then there's the work thing -- I won't know for sure whether or not we have a show until about a month out.
