I intend to submit a bill making November 11th an official holiday in Talossa to be known as Armistice Day. Here is the draft text of the bill:
Whereas, the countless men and women who willingly sacrificed or risked their lives in service to their country in many conflicts and wars are worthy of public recognition, and
Whereas, nations around the world observe some form of memorial for veterans, often on the date of November 11th, and
Whereas, Talossa does not have a day of commemoration for veterans,
Therefore the Ziu hereby declares that November 11th of each year shall be designated as Armistice Day in honour of all veterans.

My only suggestion would be that the "resolved" part should also include some mention of the reason it's called Armistice Day in the first place -- the Great War. You should get unanimous support on this one. Well... maybe not Pete Hottelet. Ben

IT RECEIVES MY ENTHUSIASTIC ENDORESMENT. Although, you could perhaps rename it "The Day the Wrong Side Won the Great War Day," but I won't quibble.

Here is the revised text of the bill:
Whereas, the countless men and women who willingly sacrificed or risked their lives in service to their country in many conflicts and wars are worthy of public recognition, and
Whereas, nations around the world observe some form of memorial for veterans, often on the date of November 11th, and
Whereas, Talossa does not have a day of commemoration for veterans,
Therefore the Ziu hereby declares that since November 11th is the anniversary of the official end of World War One, November 11th of each year shall be designated as Armistice Day in honour of all veterans.
Therefore the Ziu further declares that two minutes of silence is recommended to be observed by all Talossans on the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month of every year in honour of all veterans.

Hmmm... I may abstain because it has too many "u"s in it. ;D

I added the two minute silence part after some consideration. If people do not support this, I would be happy to remove it and try to get that passed in a separate bill. I may change the wording from the whole "eleventh hour......." to simply something like, "on November 11th." It makes the bill kind of long-winded, but I kind of like long-winded things. By the way I.M. in my opinion there are not enough "u"s!

The bill looks great! As for too many u's, I would remind the honourable gentleman opposite that British spelling has long been official in Talossa, and besides, everybody in their heart of hearts knows it just looks better... how many people would read "Glamor" magazine?! Seriously, the Canadians have it about right, with labour, honour, and centre, but not so much of the really wild stuff like gaol or carburettor. Ben
