The Yet to be Named Amendment to the Orglaw Act
WHEREAS a long time ago in a galaxy far far away a prospective immigrant needed the Uppermost Cort to give them full citizenship rights, and
WHEREAS in the modern time in a land not so far away prospective immigrants become citizens after a petition on Witt, and
WHEREAS the OrgLaw does not currently reflect this change,
THEREFORE we proclaim that:
Article XII Section 5 be amended to say: The Immigration Minister shall supervise the immigration of new citizens into Talossa, in accordance with the law.

I strongly oppose this measure! For some very convincing reasons which I care not to share. However, I must say that they are extremely convincing!! So you should all vote against it.

Wow! Dréu has joined the GRUMP! :-) The Ziu is empowered (Article XVII, Section 6, point 11) to establish (and update, change, etc.) immigration law. The current immigration law, of course, is contained in this statute. The language of the proposal made in this thread would put (a high-level overview of) our current statutory procedures (which are subject to change in the future, of course) into the Organic Law. It is not good to entrench the current status of transitory statutory laws into the Organic Law, and so (as written), this amendment is something I would stand against. However, a change to Article XII, Section 5 simply to eliminate the mention of the Uppermost Cort (with which the Immigration Minister no longer actively works directly), and to reduce the language to "The Immigration Minister shall supervise the immigration of new citizens into Talossa, in accordance with the law." would perhaps be a sensible change? The function of the Uppermost Cort in (initial) immigration has indeed been reduced (and in some sense supplanted by the Primary Intelligence Group, a bureau of the Ministry of Justice, which validates and verifies the information given by all prospectives). The Cort, of course, is still Organically the only body empowered to restore a citizenship that has been renounced. This process was most recently followed for the restoration of the citizenship of the Right Honourable Ieremiac'h Ventrutx and three of the dandelions in his care. Hooligan

I am with my honourable friend the Seneschal insomuch as opposing the current wording. The Cort has been and should be a valuable part of the process of integrating into Talossa. Organically disbarring one element of that responsibility would be, I think, a mistake.
Devolving it to statutory law may be a good idea, though.
