Let the Cantaloûr Era Begin!

Azul, loyal Talossans!

At 20:01 last night, Talossan time, the ancient Oath of Office was administered by telephone to Márcüs Cantaloûr. The historic Loom of Language was sitting next to the telephone as we spoke. As a result of this constitutional and historic act, Mr Cantaloûr is now officially the 31st Prime Minister of Talossa. Congratulations!

The Prime Minister has indicated to us that he is prepared to name his cabinet and we have consented to all his appointments.

Our thanks to outgoing Prime Minister Gary Cone for his months of service to the Kingdom and for his eloquence and bravery at a crucial moment in our great nation's history.

Azul!

I stand before you (well, technically I sit here in front of my computer monitor) today as your Prime Minister. I am indeed humbled when I contemplate my many esteemed and noble predecessors. I hope to continue in that great line of Talossan Prime Ministers.

During my many years as a Talossan citizen, I never seriously considered the possibility that one day I may be Prime Minister. For a long time, it seemed as though I was in political exile. It was not until I discovered the Black Hand that I finally found a party that represented to me everything that was good about Talossa. The vision of the MN is one that I believe to right for the future of the Kingdom. I would like to personally thank all Talossans who were willing to give the MN another strong mandate, my sincere gratitude for your continued support.

I would surely be amiss if I did not offer my congratulations to all the members and leaders of the opposition parties. All parties ran solid campaigns based squarely on issues and no one engaged in the ugly, personal attacks which so often tarnish the image of politics. I am looking forward to working with Talossans of all political stripes and flavours over the coming months.

Under my leadership, this MN government will pursue our promised reforms. Immigration, the three strikes law, and a heraldic system are just some matters that will be examined.

At this time, I believe Talossa is embarking on an exciting new adventure with the changes made in provincial administration. I intend to do as much as possible to facilitate the development of active provincial governments, while keep Abbavilla’s nose out of the provinces!

My office will always be open for citizens, I would love to hear from you on a regular basis. I intend to establish a more regular means of communication from government to people and also between the different levels of government. Communication is the key to good governance.

Once again, I wish to thank everyone for their generous support. I especially wish to thank The Right Honourable Gary Cone on his fine services rendered to the Kingdom during his time as Prime Minister.
