In accordance with the wishes of our beloved Martiimi-Maxhestic forefathers, which may or may not have included Arjuna and John Crichton, I hereby open nominations for the Official Sandwich of the Glorious Province of Martiimi-Maxhestic.
I will begin by placing my own nomination: the Monte Cristo.
According to Wikipedia, which provides a good populist summary, the Monte Cristo "consists of ham, turkey, and Swiss cheese between two slices of bread, soaked in an egg-based batter and grilled or deep-fried.
"The sandwich is often served with fresh fruit or with maple syrup on the side. It is sometimes served with fruit preserves, powdered sugar, or sweet mustard sauce."
The sandwich's origins are in dispute, but it seems possible, nay probable, that the sandwich was created by Abd ar Rahman ibn Rustam, Berber ruler of central Maghrib. This is in obvious deference to our Berber forebears.
Additionally, the Monte Cristo references The Count of Monte Cristo, a wonderful book by Alexandre Dumas. As an English major, I was required to read this book, and to the best of my recollection it is about Ahab, his whale, and an island prison. These are all nautical, and thus fitting for our maritime province.
Nominations, however, will remain open for a week, at which point voting will begin. Input from other legislators or officials is welcome.

Nominations have been open for well over a week, and are now closed. As the Monte Cristo is running unopposed, I will therefore submit that it shall pass into law that the Official Sandwich of Maritiimi-Machestic is the Monte Cristo. So let it be said, so let it be done.

What other superlatives are we going to be voting on?

Man! As a Jew I would've told you guys to go for pastrami on rye, but oh well... Monte Cristo's are pretty good too.

It's not your province, A. Gavárþic'h.

He has a good point, you can try to get into your provincial legislator (or be the only active one, like me) and make your provincial sandwich into whatever you want. I would actually love to see every province with a sandwich, so at the next T-Fest we could have a patriotic lunch.

As a Florenciân, I'm jealous of you M-M'ers. Monte Cristos are the bomb. :-(
