While I was PM, I appointed Governors to provinces who had lost theirs last June 1 (or before in one case). While I'm not sure if I was overstepping my bounds at the time, something needed to be done about it. I passed that information on to PM Cone, but I don't think he did anything to change it. If he has, I missed it and this can be disregarded. FYI, here are/were the assignments, with the understanding that elections would be held: Ataturk: Tomas (he accepted the postion again after he resigned with the understanding that he would be a figurehead until a governor could be elected) Cezembre and Mussolini: Q Florencia: Maxime Maricopa: Ken Maritimii-Maxhestic: Dan Vuode: Gary Furthermore, since Max has left, I am declaring myself Provisional Governor of Florencia. As Max would say, "mouhahaha." It is my intention to contact the SoS office to determine the residents of these Provinces and get elections started at a convenient time under provincial and OrgLaw rules.

Nothing like self appointments hein! ;D Actually, considering the current Cosa and Senatorial election, this would be a perfect time to hold governatorial election for province where it is needed.

> Actually, considering the current Cosa and Senatorial election, this would be a perfect time to hold governatorial election for province where it is needed. Actually, the current legislation up for a vote in the election dispenses with provincial governors. In their place, each province will have its own parliament and can run its own affairs that way; the parliaments can elect governors if they so choose. Also, each province will have a Constable appointed by the PM, to sort of look over things (and veto bills if things get out of hand). I think the provincial parliaments will really work to revitalize provincial stuff. The RV/VIP is contesting the election in Vuode (and so far winning in a landslide and we can expect to see similar provincial-based parties in future elections. Ben

Well, I guess that takes care of that! How exactly will this affect Florencia's constitution, since it already has a legislature?

Well, that's the big mystery. The advancing OrgLaw legislation (under which this election is being held in the provinces) sort of subverts the existing provincial constitutions, where such constitutions exist. Whether it does so unconstitutionally is another matter. And I don't know if we still have the appropriate records to know which provinces are "certified" and which ones aren't. ("Certified" provinces have more self-government powers.) Do you have a copy of the Florencia constitution? There is one here in the archives, if you need one. One thing you're apparently doing as Governor, and I'm doing as head of the RV/VIP in Vuode, is trying to get more activity going in the provinces, and that's great -- if we can work together on this, let's do it! I've got one, thanks.
Maybe I'll put off my takeover of Florencia until I talk to Ken and Brook. I wasn't aware of who's who.

You know, I was seriously tempted to issue a PD "de-certifying" ALL provinces, coupled with an invitation for all capable provinces to immediately re-apply, just to clear up the confusion on that matter. I still might, before my term as PM officially ends.

I don't remember, how does a province become "certified?"

Just to clarify, I am the current Military Governor of Ataturk Province, not Tomas. After the republican act of treason, many provinces were left without Governors. Tomas was unable to continue to carry out his duties as Governor, so Gary Cone appointed me to the position. A decision had to made regarding the Senats elections in that province. I would be more than happy to allow Tomas to resume his role as Military Governor of Ataturk Province if that is his wish.
I think you will find the post on page thirteen of this board, under the title "OFFICIAL: Appointments from the Prime Minister."

Does anyone have a copy of the constitution for Ataturk province?
I am interested to see how this new system (if it passes) will impact the provinces. Hopefully the provinces will be revitalized.
The MN is contesting the elections in Ataturk, so all residents of Ataturk make sure you vote for the MN!

Provinces are "certified" by law, and (if I remember correctly) cannot be "de-certified" without their own consent, once "certified."
It's anybody's guess what provinces are or are not certified, unfortunately, until somebody does the actual grunt work of indexing our national laws that were spirited away in the Great Theft but apparently still exist in various third-party online caches.
Legally, I believe that all the new provincial legislatures can solve the problem/ambiguity by ratifying the federal referendum on their own. As representative of the RV/VIP, I know this will be at the top of my agenda if elected to govern Vuode Province, and I will work with other provincial legislatures (if they'll have me, natch!) either to draft similar legislation or to follow their lead if they have a better plan.
