My Lord Duke, Senators—

I rise to be the first to cast my vote on this Clark. However, I also beg your attention while I say a few words on the matters before us.

When 37RZ1 was first proposed, I thought that it was a joke. Now that it is on the Clark, it must be taken notice of. There is already an act against life: in the twelfth covenant to be precise. And what’s more, it is illogical (the Fallacy of Four Terms). For these and other reasons, I vote on 37RZ1: CONTRÂ.

37RZ2 seems both good and necessary, and therefore I vote PËR.

I have thought that the immigration process was lacking and this seems a good place to start, so I vote on 37RZ3 PËR.

Although I think the process of appointing a new senator to a vacant seat needs a change, I do not think that this is the right way. A senator should be elected on merit, not on party. Therefore he should be replaced in the same manner. And what’s more, I do not think a senator should be required to associate with a political party. I will propose an alternative soon, I hope. Therefore, I vote on 37RZ4: CONTRÂ.

For now, I reserve my vote on 37RZ5 until I have time to consider it more fully.
I have considered and decided that I do not think this is a good thing. With a Cosâ of two hundred seats and people who hold unequal numbers, it makes things interesting. If this passes, it will limit the ability to hold different numbers of seats. That will make everything boring. For example, what if someone starts a party and gets a lot of votes, and then is the only member of the Cosâ and can only hold twelve seats? We do not have a problem with anyone who hoards too many seats. Why should the law be changed? For these reasons, I vote: CONTRÂ.

On 37RZ6 also I reserve my vote for the same reason.
I vote CONTRÂ on 37RZ6. This is not necessarily because I think it is a bad idea, but because there has been so little discussion about it.

[The senator from Maritiimi-Maxhestic rises slowly to his feet, supporting himself on his wooden leg carefully. It's actually not really HIS wooden leg, but he found it at the VA yesterday and it looked pretty.]

Worthy senators and eavesdroppers, I have won my seat by through dangers untold and hardships unnumbered, fighting my way here to the castle beyond the Goblin City to take back the child that you have stolen, for my will is as strong as yours, and my kingdom is as great-

Worthy senators, I am but a new-minted legislator, and a new-minted Talossan. The space of my time in our fair country is unfortunately brief, particularly when I think of the years of enjoyment and patriotism that I have missed. But I am here now, and taking action now. It is only by dint of a statue that I must wait a month before voting my seat, but we are a nation of laws, and I will happily abide.

That said, I will still state how I would have voted, were I foresightful enough to immigrate earlier.

As to the matter of 37RZI, "The Act Against Life," I must needs declare that while it is delightfully amusing, in the end we must not pass it into law. If we begin legislating against evil cereals, it is clear we must start with Kix, whose first choice of slogan was "Kid tested, Hitler approved". I would vote Contrâ, were I voting.

37RZ2 barely requires my support; it is an important act which will re-establish the rule of law regarding dual citizenship with clear language. Clarity is forever our goal. I would vote Për.

The bill 37RZ3 brings into being an oath which was reviewed and approved in the Hopper, and since we must have an oath (according to prior law) now would be a good time to make one. I would vote Për.

37RZ4, "The Commonly Associated Act," required significant thought, but it seems to be a wise elimination of a flaw of vagueness in the law, and as such I would vote Për.

"The Share the Cosa Act", 37RZ5, is a step to allow further participation for our new citizens in government, which is always vital. I enthusiastically would vote Për.

37RZ6 consolidates the laws for succession, which will certainly make my poor head hurt less, and brings into law a line of succession which is firm and cannot be muddled. It is a good thing, and I would have voted Për.

On 37RZ1: What? I feel that I must abstain voting on this one. I'm against not eating Life cereal. I like Life cereal, especially cinnamon flavored. But I admired to high heaven the timing and class with which the punchline of this amendment was administered, and would therefore have voted quite for it.

For these reasons, I ABSTAIN on 37RZ1.

As to 37RZ1, I vote: CONTRA, not because of a particular regard for Life, but because I fear the slippery slope that this bill represents. If we are to outlaw one form of cereal through no material faults of its own, we set a precident whereby Trix, or even Cocoa Puffs might be criminalized (this would be bad; I do particularly like both of these latter cereals).

37RZ2: PER. This is an important issue that is well-resolved by this bill.

37RZ3: PER. We are in want of an oath; this bill creates an oath, and has gained a large degree of support.

37RZ4: PER. After the discussion about (gutting of) this bill, I am convinced that it has become thouroughly harmless. I like the party-based system in Talossa and think that this is a good, clear way of resolving the semantic problems about a senator's associated party.

37RZ5: CONTRA. I agree entirely with my esteemed friend, Senator Casálmac'h. As of yet, there is no need to shake things up. I like the way things work in the Cosa and would like to preserve the system as it is as long as it is viable. I would like to note that my early considerations favoured this bill and I will support such an act when the size of the population deems it necessary, but as things are today I believe that access to government is suitable.
