Got mine yesterday! I think that there would certainly be enough news to put out a bang-up quarterly edition, whether it be mailed or made available in .pdf (I know that I would make sure to print out the "Green Sheet" on green paper!

To the editors and writers of Stotanneu:
Nice job on issue #966!
I was especially pleased to see a green "Green Sheet."
I also enjoyed reading Ben's outrageously tendentious history of Talossa's first 25 years. It did my soul good to see that Ben's history pen is still capable of scratching out such wonderfully idiosyncratic versions of events.
I look forward to reading and contributing to future issues. A living Stotanneu will do a lot for the Kingdom's sense of community.

I have not received my copy yet, although I am getting quite excited! Now that I think about it, this will be my very first Stotanneu that I have ever read in print! Hopefully it will not be the last.

Thanks for your comments -- glad you like it. Of all the stuff in there, I think Marc Moisan's editorial deserves the most careful reading. As for my "idiosyncratic" view of history, I would remind everyone that in a phone conversation with Dan the other day, I offered to change anything in my historical summation that was "inaccurate." His reply: "I never said it was inaccurate." As for Q's suggestion of a .pdf version, this is something I am looking into. One idea is to put the "last" edition up online when the "next" edition is published. That way, people who actually subscribe get a three-month advance view of the issue, while the rest of the world can still see a Talossan newspaper online, though it's a bit out of date. The one issue that needs working on more than anything else is funding. The Støtanneu I sent out cost about $40 of my own funds (50 copies of the paper, plus postage to more than 30 people, many of whom live overseas). This is not a financial burden which I really care to incur, but if some system can be set up to fund it, that problem is solved. I'm glad to do the grunt work on formatting, writing, photocopying and mailing. The more writers, of course, the better. We could just charge people to write for the paper... Ben

I would be more than willing to subscribe to Stot. If there are enough people willing to subscribe this might be the best route to follow.

I realize most of Stot's readers don't know the history behind the "Green Sheet." From time immemorial until the early 1990s (1994? I'd have to check my notes) the Milwaukee Journal ran the "Green Sheet" as an insert in its weekday editions. The Green Sheet featured the comics as well as a lot of "off-beat" stories.
Well, the day came when the paper decided to discontinue the Green Sheet, allegedly because the green dye was too expensive. (Many of us thought it was because they wanted the paper to look more like USA Today...) So, the very next issue of Støtanneu following the demise of their Green Sheet, we started up our own Green Sheet (with an almost identical nameplate), and the rest is history.
Our Green Sheet fell by the wayside when Støtanneu became an exclusively online paper, but the two "paper" issues released since 1996 have featured it, and the revived paper (assuming it gets revived) will of course feature it as well.
