I will vote PER on this bill. However, as I have been reminded that Steve Miller hails from Milwaukee, might this bill be amended so that he can be given the same honorary title as Mrs. Estefan?

WHEREAS, at present, Gloria Estefan is Talossa's National Entertainer (33RZ6); and
WHEREAS Gloria Estefan is Cuban-Floridian, and even the most creative geographer would not suggest this fell within the GTA; and
WHEREAS Charlotte Rae is from Milwaukee, is skilled in singing, dancing and acting, and was involved in two of the best shows the world has yet produced; and
WHEREAS, even if you can't place her name, a quick use of Google will bring a flood of childhood memories back to you, including antics with Gary Coleman and Molly Ringwald; and
WHEREAS it is better for a Talossan to present entertainment to Talossans and Talossan entertainment to the world; and
WHEREAS it is also good to hold on to tradition;
The Ziu hereby resolves that:
I) Charlotte Rae be adopted as the National Entertainer of Talossa, replacing Gloria Estefan.
2) Gloria Estefan be created an Extraordinary Guest Star of Talossan Entertainment, a purely honourary title for those entertainers from outside Milwaukee who are recognized as especially noteworthy within Talossan history.
3) A third order of entertainment merit be created for Milwaukeeans who have not attained National Entertainer status, the Fellowship of Amusement & Recreation of Talossa (FART). Steve Miller and Jane Kaczmareck will be the first members of this order, and may use the post-nominals FART from hereonin.

Inasmuch as it is roughly 10 days since hoppering, when it hits the precise 10 day mark, I request the SoS read this message and stick this on the next Clark!

I would suggest that the word "Milwaukee" be changed to "Talossa" in the bill (although whether she was actually from the GTA east of the river is important, for if not, she's no more a Talossan than is Gloria -- who will do the research?).
Even if Charlotte does indeed hail from within our national borders, just a thought, but we could keep Gloria's current title, and make Charlotte the National Native Entertainer, or the National Cestour Entertainer.
We have until the 18th before this bill needs to be submitted for Clarking; with apologies for the lateness of my comments, I request that the author continue debate on this bill a while longer.

She went to high school in Shorewood, I think, which is just north of Talossa (and would be IN Talossa if various annexation attempts in the past had been successful). Close enough to possibly have lived in Talossan territory, but I don't know how we could find out for sure.

Hooly, it's called cultural annexation, whereby one ignores the precise details and goes for the sound of the thing *grin*. Every gret empire has proven adept at it...
I will put some thought into this, though I honestly don't see the necessity to create "National Cestour Entertainer" as a role when my suggestion is that there should be a special order of merit for Cestrous we find marvellously entertaining. That is to say - is her status as a non-Madison piece of culture so important that she needs to retain roughly the same title as before (I do welcome a debate on this)?

Further research reveals that Charlotte lived at 1232 N. 12th Street until she was about 10, and then at 4431 N. Murray Avenue until leaving the GTA to go to college. Neither location is in Talossa, unfortunately, but both are close. The 12th Street address is about two-thirds of a mile west of the River, and the Murray Avenue address is about a mile north of the Talossa-Shorewood border.

Although it doesn't appear that Charlotte Rae ever lived or went to school in Talossa, Steve Miller lived in Maricopa Province until he was seven years old, at which point his family moved to Texas. Liberace studied music at the Wisconsin Conservatory of Music on Prospect Avenue (a name that should be familiar to Talossans) in Maritiimi-Maxhestic, but he's dead now. I think the best candidate for national entertainer may be singer Al Jarreau. He was born in Milwaukee and went to Lincoln High School in Maricopa Province. A seven-time Grammy winner, he's the only vocalist to win a Grammy in three different categories (jazz, pop, R&B).

Maricopan Cestour (probably) S:reu Jarreau does seem to epitomise the strong musical traditions of our nation. Indeed, the Lincoln High School that Jarreau attended is now the Lincoln Center of the Arts. That vibrant area of our nation has always been a hotbed of jazz and blues, and it is no surprise that it has produced Grammy Award winners in both Al Jarreau and Steve Miller.
Also, the theme to the TV show Moonlighting was done by Al Jarreau, and not only is that a cool song (and show), but the show was on TV the same time Charlotte Rae was in her prime(-time). Coincidence? I think so.

Al Jarreau may be an appropriate replacement. Thankyou for the frankly terrifying research Cresti =D
I'll look into revising a few bits tomorrow. Thanks for the renewed debate!

WHEREAS, at present, Gloria Estefan is Talossa's National Entertainer (33RZ6); and
WHEREAS Gloria Estefan is Cuban-Floridian, and even the most creative geographer would not suggest this fell within the GTA; and
WHEREAS Al Jarreau is from Maricopa, and could easily be the scat singer in any prospectuve Talossan jazz quartet; and
WHEREAS Charlotte Rae is from Milwaukee, is skilled in singing, dancing and acting, and was involved in two of the best shows the world has yet produced; and
WHEREAS, even if you can't place her name, a quick use of Google will bring a flood of childhood memories back to you, including antics with Gary Coleman and Molly Ringwald; and

WHEREAS it is also good to hold on to tradition; and
WHEREAS we all appreciate Diff'rent Strokes;
The Ziu hereby resolves that:
1) Al Jarreau be adopted as the National Entertainer of Talossa, replacing Gloria Estefan.
2) Gloria Estefan and Charlotte Rae be created Extraordinary Guest Stars of Talossan Entertainment, a purely honourary title for those fantastic entertainers without a personal link to Talossa.
