WHEREAS, at present, Gloria Estefan is Talossa's National Entertainer (33RZ6); and
WHEREAS Gloria Estefan is Cuban-Floridian, and even the most creative geographer would not suggest this fell within the GTA; and
WHEREAS Charlotte Rae is from Milwaukee, is skilled in singing, dancing and acting, and was involved in two of the best shows the world has yet produced; and
WHEREAS, even if you can't place her name, a quick use of Google will bring a flood of childhood memories back to you, including antics with Gary Coleman and Molly Ringwald; and
WHEREAS it is better for a Talossan to present entertainment to Talossans and Talossan entertainment to the world; and
WHEREAS it is also good to hold on to tradition;
The Ziu hereby resolves that:
I) Charlotte Rae be adopted as the National Entertainer of Talossa, replacing Gloria Estefan.
2) Gloria Estefan be created an Extraordinary Guest Star of Talossan Entertainment, a purely honourary title.

Sorry I googled her and nothing from my childhood came up. Who the hell is Molly Ringwald?

She was in the Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles.

Well, this is a hard one. Ms. Estefan has so far refused to even entertain the call for her to sing Trambetâ in El Taloçáit d'Isiviglhâ, and that can't argue in her favour.... Hooligan

I very much like this bill, especially inasmuch as it creates a new class of entertainment honours, to maintain our esteem for S:da Estefan (appropriate, as for a long time she was one of the few non-Robert I elements of Kingdom culture, since he never really liked her) while at the same time advancing our culture along exactly appropriate lines. I will look forward to voting for this.

I say this is a fairly good act. I'd vote for it.

Charlotte Rae was in Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life, for the curious.

Zooks! And here I thought Gloria's position was secure, with the passing of S:reu Sinatra.

I would ask the SoS to put this Bill on the next Clark, as the above is the final draft.

I would ask the SoS to put this Bill on the next Clark, as the above is the final draft. Don't be too hasty, it was only Hoppered yesterday! Even the author of the Domesday Act is jumping the gun a little. Bills aren't eligible for Clarking until they've been Hoppered for 10 days (except for bills appearing on the first Clark of a Cosa, but it's too late for that).

His Honour the Justice and Birthday Boy is, of course, correct. Technically, nothing can be Clarked until after its ten days are up. I thank him for his gentle reminder to myself.

An excellent choice. I always wanted to have Mrs. Garrett's job when I was a teenager...Ohhh supervision over all those girllllsss...Ahem on to my major concern about this bill.
Ms. Rae is going to be 82 this year (DOB 4/11/26). This to me shouts emeritus status, not an active entertainer. Her last listed appearance was in a 2005 episode of King of Queens and her last TV movie was in 2000 (Another Womans Husband). All information courtesy of IMDB.com. Checking that source for entertainers who list Milwaukee as their home includes:
Greg Eagles - yes a voice over artist, best known for being "Grim" on the Cartoon Network show The Grim Adventures of Billy and Mandy...lists Milwaukee as his birthplace...
Scott Jaeck - character actor, last seen as "Trenchcoat" for 2 episodes on Prison Break...and many many other tv shows
Al Jarreau - singer and songwriter... you SHOULD know who he is...
Kato Kaelin - 'nuff said
Steve Miller - (my personal vote) "why don't you fly like an eagle..."
Brad Rowe - tv actor mostly
Gene Wilder - (my vote if you have to have an actor)
Zucker Brothers - Surely you jest. I'm not, and stop calling me Shirley...
Now some women:
Aimee Graham - last seen on CSI
Heather Graham - lots of movies recently Seen on Scrubs a few years back...veryyy blond
Jane Kaczmarek - Malcolm's mom...you know her...
Jessica Szohr - memorable turn on CSI:Miami as Samantha Barrish...during a serial killer arc... And probably a few others...especially the couple of porn stars I found and I didn't even get too much into the music scene...
Of all those stars it seems to me that Jane Kaczmarek and the Zucker Brothers would MAYBE "get" the idea that is Talossa....but I could be wrong...

Jane Kaczmarek was my other thought.
But if DVDs of Diff'rent Strokes and Facts of Life won't satisfy you, what will?
We're not going to be inviting folk to come and entertain us at TalossaFest, not for some time anyway (except maybe Heather Graham - worth a try), so the idea of "presently active" becomes far less important.

Steve Miller - (my personal vote) "why don't you fly like an eagle..." .... Gene Wilder - (my vote if you have to have an actor) These are the two that I was thinking of.
