The Cruel Joke at Pengöpät's Expense Act
WHEREAS it is traditional to regularly introduce legislation to transform the beloved but chilly territory of Pengöpäts into a province, and
WHEREAS penguins are delicious when roasted or in "jerk penguin" form, and
WHEREAS this legislator manages to be both wholly in favor and wholly opposed to his own legislation, and
WHEREAS there are no residents of the territory to be hurt by this regularly scheduled false hope, and
WHEREAS the Organic Law only explicitly states this is impossible a little, not really a lot,
THEREFORE, the territory of Pengöpäts is hereby established as the province of Pengöpäts, with all of the rights and privileges due a province of the Kingdom of Talossa.

I would ask King John to formally appoint our resident Mental Health Professionals to query our good Senator Davis as to his current state of competence.
(quietly removes all pens, letter openers, staple removers, and various and assorted sharp pointed things from the Senate Chambers)

I too stand strongly opposed to this proposed legislation, and I would ask that Senator Davis please add my name as an extremely proud co-sponsor.

Well
WHEREAS I love penguins because their awesome.
WHEREAS penguins can be somewhat like people.
WHEREAS penguins will be dead soon enough so they deserve something before they go extinct.
and WHEREAS penguins have a really hard life anyways.
THEREFORE I officially support the penguins on making Pengopats a province.

Under normal circumstances, We would refrain from expressing any opinion on a possibly controversial political question, but this Pengöpäts Bill is such a *very* fine idea that We are simply unable to restrain Our enthusiasm. Therefore We the King do most heartily endorse this excellent Bill, vehemently urging the Ziu to approve it posthaste, and enthusiastically pledging (should it pass) to exercise Our royal veto.
