Azul! The voting has ended on the November, 2004 Clark. The VOC has passed and the government has been returned to office. The proposed legislation on sanctuary has been defeated in the Cosâ though it passed in the Senate. Complete results will be available (tomorrow, hopefully) when my notes and I are reunited. Oh well, I did not really expect the legislation to pass. Those who voted no should really look at the very real danger that church sanctuary is in!

The feeling I got from talking to people about the issue is that since most accused people actually are guilty, having religious institutions help them evade justice was a bad idea.
Oh well, I don't get a vote!
Is this a burning issue in Canada? A number of people asked me that.
BTW, my previous report was wrong--it passed in the Cosâ and failed (on a tie vote, with two abstentions!) in the Senate.

Is this a burning issue in Canada? A number of people asked me that. Not at all, it is not prime time news anyway. Well, I am glad it has been defeated, I am a little worried that it almost passed though. Marc Moisan, C.D.
