Azul, ladîntschen regipätsistàns:
I am intrigued and a bit disturbed to note that, not only has the Royalist CÚG started discussions on language reform without the Republic's input, but that these discussions appear nearly finished.
I am informed that your citizen, s:reu Asmoûr, asked our Minister of Culture, cxhn. Txáglh, to participate in these discussions on 11 May. Our Minister replied that myself - the head of l'Icastolâ, the Republic's equivalent of the CÚG - should be invited because my language skills were the strongest. I never heard about s:reu Asmoûr's invitation.
If I had known about these discussions back in May - remember that, since many Kingdom citizens regard me with glowing-eyed hatred, I try to avoid reading your DG on a regular basis - I would have certainly participated. This is even more distressing as I have recently begun work on a Teach Yourself Talossan book, using the 1997-1998 standard.
If the CÚG has made its mind up to establish a new standard, then there's not much I can do about it now, and the Republic will certainly not simply abandon our recent work to adopt these reforms. But it is distressing.

All of the proposals concerning language reform that have been considered by the CÚG have been posted on this board for public comment. Non-citizens have, as you pointed out, been contacted to ensure that all Ladintschen everywhere are aware of the linguistic proposals being considered by the CÚG (although of course the Icastolâ is a separate body, set up explicitly by its members to be separate and distinct from the CÚG, and certainly we in the CÚG cannot presume to mandate that it act or even take note of the work of the body from which it separated). I am also aware that the King has kept you, Miestrâ, personally informed of the largest of these proposals (on vowels and stress). We in the CÚG have certainly been open to receiving comments from all Ladintschen everywhere, but lacking it has not prevented the CÚG from fulfilling its mandate and working on an Arestadâ that it believes is for the good of the language.
Speaking as the Prime Minister of the Kingdom now (and I wish to make crystal clear that this is the only paragraph in which I am doing so), in my opinion, the government of the Kingdom has acted in complete good faith to try to honour the terms of the agreement made between our two parties last year, and has taken the lead (seeing no other progress on any plank of this agreement) to set up an overarching "association of Talossan Language societies." A private organization like the CUG is certainly not constrained to wait for a response to a governmental initiative. Additionally, the proposed charter leaves freedom of action in each society's hands anyway.
The CÚG, of course, acts in the hope that the language be improved in the view of all writers and speakers of the language everywhere.

I assumed the Republic's Minister of Culture would forward my message on to the appropriate persons within the Republic, since he would be in a better position to determine who that would be. Anyway, you would have been welcome to our discussions, and they're still under way, but with no right to vote.

If I had known about these discussions back in May . . . I would have certainly participated. Miestrâ, I feel it important to clarify the record a little. On 10 May, even before S:reu Asmoûr sent the e-mail to S:reu Txaglh discussed above, Vitz Açafat posted the following on the Republic's Witt: The following day, 11 May, you replied: S:reu Txaglh provided the requested link less than two hours later. Perhaps communications could have been handled better than they were (which I take to be the point of S:reu Asmoûr's apology in this thread), but at the same time, let's not pretend that your side was completely oblivious to the discussions going on here.
