Milord --
I am grateful that the CÙG membership has decided to admit me to its ranks. And to have it be unanimous as well! I am stunned and flattered to see such consensus among the members as to my humble qualifications. With the CÙG membership tripled (and I assume that you...er, we...are looking for more members) and potentially with patronage from our King, I am confident that we can now move to the next steps in the development and promotion of el glhetg. I hope to hear from my fellow new inductee here, and hopefully His Majesty will accept your offer to patronize our society. Those formalities out of the way, I confidently predict that this organization will swiftly generate a flurry of activity, and wil participate in partnership with other private organizations devoted to the study and use of our language.
Hooligan CÙG Member. Cool.

We shall be most pleased to serve as Patron of the Comità për l'Útzil del Glhetg, and We extend Our warmest personal thanks to the Committee and Lord Castiglhâ for the invitation.
It just so happens that We (or speaking less royally, I) have been thinking quite a bit about how best to achieve what so many of us have so long desired — the correction of the worst elements of our rather unique orthographic system. I have a Modest Proposal just about ready to release ...

Okay, I can’t quite understand the oath exactly. Could someone get me a translation? Certainly! I, _____, promise completely that I shall serve the Committee for the Use of the Language as a loyal and active member, that I shall take part in its deliberations in a spirit of optimism and dialogue, and that I shall give every bit of assistance that I can, to promote, protect and defend the Talossan language and the national identity for which it stands from apathy and opposition. This I swear!") I take it you are interested in joining? Under the Charter, admission is by majority vote of the existing members. Lord Q voted (unanimously!) me and Lord Hooligan in, and then all three of us voted Xhorxh in by e-mail.

If you would have a former citizen, I would love to be a part of the CUG. GV Azul, GV! That's a little bit tricky, as the precedent that only Kingdom citizens could join the CÚG was firmly established by former President Gariçéir and King Ben. I don't see any problem, in principle, with changing that, but things are a little complicated by the fact that we're now talking about possibly creating a joint language federation which will consist of the CÚG and l'Icastolâ. L'Icastolâ is not open to Kingdom citizens. So if that federation happens, and the CÚG opens itself to non-citizens, non-citizens would control one half of the federation and also have a say in the other half. Which doesn't seem entirely fair. What are your thoughts? Maybe voting and non-voting categories of membership?

It would be a dangerous move to open CUG membership to non-citizens. I'm against it. But, on the other hand, any good and sensible help would be welcome, so I suggest that we accept that help under the condition that the persons who will provide it will be considered 'guest' members with no right to vote.

Well, I said I was going to make a CONSERVATIVE proposal for changes in the spelling, but after sleeping on it I found it wiser to reach a compromise between being too shy and not solving the problem and being too radical and throwing the whole old system in the trash can. The reality is, our cumbersome, messy and esoteric spelling rules are frightening and overwhelming to most prospective learners (me included), and we have to do something about it right now, because our population is growing fast and a whole new bunch of newcomers are interested in learning the Glhetg. I got a PDF copy of the grammar and the vocabulary from Ben a long time ago, and when I had a first look at it I thought to myself, "This must be a joke, and a very nasty one". What good is it to boast that only two citizens in the whole country master the national language? To me it's utter madness, if not shamelessness!
Here's my proposal for changes in the spelling. (BTW, comments and suggestions are expected and will be more than welcome.
SPELLING REFORM PROJECT - FIRST DRAFT
General Stress Rules
– When a vowel is stressed and stands in the antepenultimate syllable or in final position in a word, it receives a diacritical mark (a grave accent – à, è, ì, ò, ù), except ä, ö, ae and oe, which are always naturally stressed. – The grave accent is not necessary when the stressed vowel comes immediately before the last consonant or semivowel. – Suffixes are always unstressed.
