As someone new to Talossa I am immediately attracted to the fact that you have a language of your own. I am a self proclaimed linguist and am very interested in learning more than just the basics of El Glheþ Talossán. First, I am wondering about how many of the special characters in Talossan are pronounced. Any help is greatly appreciated.

How are the special characters pronounced? Incorrectly.

I suppose the question is somewhat redundant, seeing as you don't actually "speak" Talossan. But, I learn much better through hearing rather than sight. I am just curious because many of the characters are used in other languages, but are probably pronounced differently in Talossan. For example umlauts from German and the þ which is from Icelandic(its pronounced with a "th"). I could assume they are the same, but that could lead me to butcher many words(then again, would it really matter?).

Nic and someone else — Joseph Walkland I think — are working on a section of the website covering various language issues, including pronunciation. Meanwhile, I'll email you some information.

I've actually completed (more or less) a lesson on pronunciation, and I sent it to Joseph. He'll probably be getting it on the kingdom's website soon. I'll hopefully get more about the language finished soon as well.

P.S. Blake, you say you are a self-proclaimed linguist--what do you mean by that?

Thanks for the email Sir John, great starting point. It will keep me quite busy.
I just seem to have the knack to pick up at least a basic understanding of languages quite quickly, especially spoken/in conversation. I can speak Norwegian, Swedish, and Danish near fluently, and I dabble in a bit of Italian. I will be leaving for a short trip to Iceland at the end of the month, so I have been studying that as well. Languages have always interested me, and they're a good way to fill my spare time.
