ON THE ARMS OF WOMEN
To all Men loving Nobleness, Virtue and Chivalry: and to all Ladies, and Maidens of Honor, of Honest Deportment and Gentilesse, and to each of them:
As Jaune Sabre Herald, Squirrel King of Arms of Talossa, and also Dean and Fellow of the Royal College of Arms, I send out greeting and friendship.
Upon the suggestion of the Fellows of the College of Arms, your Squirrel King has taken to mind the question of the proper shape for the emblazon for the achievement of a armigerous female citizen of Talossa. After much research, discussion and reflection, I exercise, as is my right, a pronouncement in my role as guiding the College in her proper duty. That said, I offer this decision, if it so please His Majesty the King.
In amendment to the founding Rules of Heraldry established by the Talossan College of Arms, I, the Squirrel King of Arms, in consultation with our brothers the Bartleby Pursuivant and the Collumcille Pursuivant, and after much discussion amongst the Fellows of the College, do rule, ordain, teach and decree as follows:
A woman who is armigerous may display her arms on a cartouche, oval or similar vehicle (not being an escutcheon or a colourable imitation thereof) regardless of marital status or lineage. Given at Abbavilla, on the Memorial of Saint Joan of Arc, the Maid of Orleans, this being the thirtieth day of May of the year 2007 after the birth of Christ, in the twenty-eighth year of the Kingdom of Talossa, and in the first year of the reign of King John.
Q'estrada så:
-- Jaune Sabre Herald Squirrel King at Arms Dean of the Royal Talossan College of Arms
