The newly-published Royal Descents of 600 Immigrants (Douglas Richardson, 2004) and Richardson's article on Percival Lowell in the October, 2003 issue of the New England Historical and Genealogical Register (NEHGR), contain the long-awaited documentation of the royal descent of King Robert I from Edward I, King of England (himself an ancestor of the Counts of Toulouse):
1. Edward I, King of England, died 1307.
2. Elizabeth of England, married Humphrey de Bohun, Knt., Earl of Hereford and Essex.
3. Margaret de Bohun, married Hugh de Courtenay, K.G., 10th Earl of Devon.
4. Elizabeth de Courtenay, married Andrew Luttrell, Knt., of Chilton, Devon.
5. Hugh Luttrell, Knt., of Dunster, Somerset, married Katherine Beaumont.
6. John Luttrell, Knt., of Dunster, Somerset, married Margaret Tuchet (descendant of King John).
7. James Luttrell, Knt., of Dunster, Somerset, married Elizabeth Courtenay (descendant of King Edward I).
8. Hugh Luttrell, K.B., of Dunster, Somerset, married Margaret Hill.
9. Eleanor Luttrell, married Roger Yorke, Esq., serjeant-at-law.
10. Elizabeth Yorke, married Edmund Percival, Esq., of
Weston-in-Gordano, Somerset.
11. Christian Percival, married Richard Lowle, Gent., of Portbury, Somerset.
12. Percival Lowell (or Lowle), Gent., merchant, of Portbury, Somerset, married Rebecca _____. They immigrated to New England in 1639, where they settled at Newbury, Massachussetts. Mr. Percival Lowell died at Newbury, Massachusetts 8 Jan. 1664/5.
Percival is my ancestor, through a line of United Empire Loyalists who passed through New Brunswick and ended up in Missouri.
