There's a good discussion going on in this thread about user experiences with the current Wittenberg, and how we might make things different on NewWitt once the shift happens. (Latest word is that unfortunately GoDaddy are making the King jump through hoops to get the domain names reassigned, but things are happening.) There are two major questions being raised: - the "interface" of the current Witt (its look and feel) - its current board structure. The Interior Minister, Amada Merþedes, said elsewhere that it's kind of like a rabbit warren with 100 different burrows to go down to find threads and/or information. Can we get feedback on how, if at all, people would like to see New Witt redesigned accordingly? |

I like the current Witt interface just fine, and I personally think that the nested boards are a good way of keeping everything organized.
My dad, on the other had, often expresses to me that it is difficult for him to navigate Wittenberg and that this is one of the reasons he does not post very much except for when I send him a link to the right thread.
I'll let him know his feedback here would be appreciated.

Actually, the sub-boards of El Glheþ Talossan could probably be compressed into the main board.

Personally, I am absolutely content with the current layout and design of the forum. I don't want to change a thing. But whenever you go, please PLEASE don't go for an abomination of a forum engine akin to discuss.haiku-os.org/ or forum.saysomethingin.com/c/welsh. I can't grasp who and why could think it's a good layout. |

I've got to say, from my experience the ProBoards admin features would be pretty tough to beat.
I am able to move any individual posts from any thread into a new thread anywhere I want, how cool is that?

Even though I put a beta of the new Wittenberg out some time ago, I've been continuing to evaluate software packages. I still like the features of the Simple Machines Forum (SMF) beta, but it lacks some (what I consider to be), essential features.
I've since discovered a fork of SMF which includes some of the things I've wished for by default, including UTF-8 encoding by default (so Talossan orthography works out of the box), mobile theme (because you should be able to use it on your device effortlessly), and many nice little touches. Here's an example:
I can't say I've ever seen software that didn't use just Male / Female / Other / Undisclosed before. These developers have put a lot of care into their fork.
Anyway, still testing. The King is having some challenges transferring the talossa domain to the new hosting company.

Do not forget (and I've only learned this recently), the 'Latest 59' aggregates all recent posts from all boards into a single page.
The current color-scheme for Witt works well for my eyes. Would a 'dark mode' entail everything being black or near-black save text?
ProBoards does not seem to have native archival functionality. Relevant people, please enlighten me.
I have never minded the rabbit-warren that Witt has become. Everything is very well-organized and is the product of more than a decade of hard work by many.
