The Office of the Cultural Secretary is looking for correspondents for La C'hronica Talossan.
La C'hronica is a short digest in "just the facts" form of the goings on on Wittenberg and Talossa more generally. Intended to be a short digest to keep Talossans who don't follow Wittenberg closely (or have been out of the loop) informed, La C'hronica will consist of short articles (400-500 characters exclusive of links) giving an as impartial as possible rundown. Correspondents will be assigned a mixed set of "beats" on various boards to keep workloads as light as possible while extending coverage over all of Witt.
La C'hronica is also looking for a pair of reviewers, to provide a monthly review of beer and wargames/boardgames in order to help provide a dose of Talossan culture along with the rundown of what's going on.
The paper will publish on the 15th of each month. Please contact Secretary Bornatfiglheu if interested.

Kudos to the Government for taking initiative, but this is one of the few areas where someone else is already working. La S’chinteia just put out a call for reporters and cultural commenters this month. It might be different if Talossa currently had enough activity to support two news outlets (and of course, if any other private citizen wants to start their own thing, best of luck to them), but for the Ministry of Culture to swoop in and suck the air out of the room from a nascent magazine does not feel right.

Right. I had a big announcement planned for the weekend, when the survey officially closes, but the CD Secretary decided to gazump me, wtf. So, I'd better explain this now. - a regular State-run news blog, to keep citizens who don't read Witt regularly in the loop, has been Government policy since day 1. - we asked a question on this in the Survey, and a massive majority (figures to come) say that yes, it would make them more active in Talossa. - this is not what La S'chinteia is, IMHO. La S'chinteia is a magazine of analysis and opinion. The new blog will be dispassionate "just the fact" reporting of events. We need both. - the new NewsBlog will be distributed regularly to all citizens as of right (once we get the law that allows me to do that). La S'chinteia is a private venture where subscribers get access a day before the broad masses.

The only reason La S'chinteia has published only analysis and opinion so far is because that is the only thing people have written for it. I have also clearly called for more objective journalists, its just that no one has responded (yet). You are right that no private venture could expect consistent access to the entire email database. If the survey does indicate that such a newsletter would increase activity, I can't argue it. However, I hope that these people also subscribe to La S'chinteia, which is also fully capable of delivering news once a month to their inboxes, just as soon as somebody writes it.
