In an attempt to revive Talossan activity on a non-political level, I'm announcing the formation of the unofficial Talossan Olympic Committee. (For those interested, here are the Talossan Olympic Committee Regulations.)
2018 OPEN TALOSSALYMPIC GAMES
Since Talossa is currently neither a recognized state, nor has a recognized NOC, nor can actually participate in real sports (well it's all a matter of time, isn't it?) I decided to step forth and try to organize a national sportive event which actually can be held within Talossa. I announce the 2018 Open Talossalympic Games (OTG). Here's a short F.A.Q.:
1) What sports/games will be played at the OTG?
Here's the list of recognized games and sports for the Talossalympics:
Rock-paper-scissors
Chess
Checkers
Poker
Talossan Fantasy Football
RISK
Talossopolia
Go (Baduk, Weiqi)
Battleship
Curling
Reversi (Othello)
2) What teams are eligible? How to register a team?
- be a team of athletes/players from one of the provinces of Talossa;
- be a team of athletes/players from a friendly unrecognized state/micronation, if approved by the TOC;
- be a team of athletes/players from a UN recognized state, in which case a certain quota should be preserved, so that the players of such teams did not outnumber Talossan provincial teams or micronational teams.
Basically if you're Talossan, and you want to play, your province automatically has a team. For external teams (if any) there will be special regulations.
3) Will there be medals?
Yes. Virtual.
4) What is the calendar? What are the rules?
2018 OTG are basically a testing ground. We just want Talossa to wake up and I think Talossalympics is a good way to do it. So, I can forsee for example that I'd be the only one to participate in Go. In this case, this particular game won't be on curriculum. For every sport/game that attains interest, there will be regulations. Basically, all of them will be conducted via the Internet. There will be no strict dates, because it's difficult to gather everyone on a strict date. Each event will be organized and scheduled separately, so that it was convenient to all participants.
Basically, the registration starts right now. I expect it to last for a month or two or so, we'll see. You can register in any number of sports/games you think you can play.
After some number of players for a discipline is registered, the schedule starts to form and rules are solidified, so that all participants agreed on them. When the first event will take place and first medal will be won, that will be the official starting date of the Games. They will end when the last complect of medals is decided.
It would be a good idea to do a kind of a small opening ceremony, too.
All thoughts and suggestions are strongly welcomed. You think your favorite sport/game could be a good addition to the OTG, and I forgot about it? Let me know. Want to register as an athlete/player? Go ahead and tell us!
HERE will be an always up-to-date informational article about registered participants, regulations and the schedule of the games.
